Biden poised to nominate Antony Blinken as secretary of state

President-elect Joe Biden is poised to nominate Antony Blinken to serve as secretary of state, people familiar with the matter told CNN, elevating a longtime foreign policy adviser as Biden makes his first round of Cabinet announcements Tuesday.

Barack Obama just said something very weird about black men

Barack Obama appears to be a good man. He not only appears to be a good man, but he's an intelligent man. He thinks through every syllable that comes out of his mouth, hovering over each word like a scientist carefully mixing chemicals that might explode on impact.

This is one of the reasons I was a bit surprised to hear Obama's latest statement about black men. As a black man, of course I took interest, as Barack shared his personal theory regarding why so many black men voted for Donald Trump.

Speaking to the Atlantic, this is what Obama had to say:

"It's interesting—people are writing about the fact that Trump increased his support among Black men [in the 2020 presidential election], and the occasional rapper who supported Trump," Obama said. "I have to remind myself that if you listen to rap music, it's all about the bling, the women, the money."

"A lot of rap videos are using the same measures of what it means to be successful as Donald Trump is," he continued. "Everything is gold-plated. That insinuates itself and seeps into the culture."

The idea that a man as intelligent as Barack Obama would reduce black men to a bunch of drones who follow the orders of their favorite rapper is an impossibility. Even Obama can see through his own BS and recognize this as the same mind-control language that any loyal Scientologist would use to describe someone who chose to question the cult.

First off, most black men didn't leave the Democratic Party. Over 80% of black males voted for Joe Biden, which is completely within their rights.

Also, many black men who left Biden didn't support Donald Trump. Quite a few (like myself) chose to support a third party candidate who DIDN'T spend 47 years doing everything in his power to incarcerate hundreds of thousands of black males.

Many of those black men are still in prison right now. Barack might do well to use his power to get a few thousand of them released.

The fact that Obama can dismiss the conscientious decision of many black men to "They're just thinking about booty and bling" is reflective of the very same racial stereotypes we spend our lives fighting against every single day.

By the way - there are quite a few rappers who show up at Democratic Party functions, some of whom promote the very same ignorance, violence and misogyny that Obama is referring to. The difference is that they are doing as they are told.

Here's the deal: If Barack had been honest, he would have acknowledged that he himself is a large part of the reason that millions of black men have abandoned the Democratic Party.

Many of these men supported Obama, and some of them supported him twice. They believed in hope that turned into hopelessness. They expected change that turned into more of the same.

They got tired of the lies. Sick of the betrayal. Annoyed with the fact our first black president spent more time on LGBT rights than he spent talking about the descendants of slaves. They were sick of the fact that Obama almost never even SAID the word "reparations."

They realized that in over 50 years of Democratic Party rule, the black community hasn't moved forward one bit. We've moved backward in economics, education, family stability and incarceration.

So, I ask you Mr. Obama, what in the F**K are you asking these men to vote for?

The best hope for the Democratic Party, to this point, has been that there are enough black people trapped in habitual redundancy that they continue to do the same thing without expecting any results. The only argument black supporters can make to support their position is that they dislike Donald Trump and his callous attitude toward others.

That's fine. I agree with that. But we can also agree that they weren't voting FOR anything....they were voting AGAINST something. That's hardly inspiring for a group of people who've suffered benign neglect for decades from those pretending to be our friends.

While everyone certainly has the right to do as they wish, there are some of us who've moved on, and it has nothing to do with booty and bling. It has to do with dignity.

The blatant disregard that Obama showed toward black men and our political preferences is a firm reminder of exactly what we've gotten from the Democratic Party for the last 50 years.

We are men, not children. Stop trying to tell us what to do.
