1º“Private company; they can do what they want” private companies benefit from infrastructure paid for by the public purse. It’s time for the social media as an “industry” to be held to the scrutiny many others are. We regulate banks heavily because they control people’s money, we regulate the media to ensure Al Shabaab isn’t getting air time on national TV, how much more should we regulate social media companies that are now playing arbiter of truth?
The recent fight between WhatsApp, Twitter (on one side) and the Government of India is all too revealing. Right or wrong, what power, authority or mandate except an overflow of audacity do foreign social media companies have to question the decisions of a democratically elected government regarding said governments regulatory measures against them.
You cheered on when Trumpnwas banned, when Ugandan government officials (who’s actions I mostly loathe) were banned as well, but we failed to see the sinister power social media companies were demonstrating. It was a message that said, “we own your audience and the narrative will be steered our way like it or not”
Secondly, these companies apply their rules arbitrarily and without any clear form, precedence or pattern. They have set up boards that are neither here nor there and have had media companies popularize and sensationalize the decisions of these boards as if they should in any way be consequential. These same boards presumably will allow terrorists to continue on the platform but ban government officials speaking out against violent protest.
But I guess they are private companies. They have no political agenda as well, right?
2ºI’ve been saying it from the very beginning! Coronaviruses as well as any zoonosis dont jump the barrier from animal to humans in this fashion and certainly dont infect their human hosts this fast causing millions of deaths worldwide in less than a year. Another thing, any virus that jump the animal/human barrier will mutate but never to the rate this one has done in a year with more than 50 mutations, that takes years in the normal viral world and has to learn his host before it can start mutating into more virulent forms and it took what, just a few months... To me that seems more like a human engineered pathogen than what you would find in the natural world
3ºNo virus or bacteria has caused such devastation on the human body than Covid. I called it unnatural back in 2020. This wasn't just a lung related death. What disease also causes death through strokes and DVTs, damages the heart muscle, kidneys, brain, olfactory nerves, causes hair loss, wreaks havoc on the digestive system... that's not natural. However China will never admit to GOF or that it leaked from a lab. Neither would the US if it happened here. Also Dr. fauci REALLY took the Chinese scientist at their word that no GOF studies would occur???? Ironic how he became the face of Covid as if he was the only epidemiologist in the world that knew about Covid? Hmmm... if he did so much for AIDS research, why wasn't he a Household name earlier??? Only when Covid arose and his group just happened to grant money to a lab studying Covid. Gotta love coincidence, right?
