People of color are far more likely to live in extreme urban heat zones. This campaign will map the inequality.

A recent study suggests that heat exposure may be unequally distributed across income groups, especially during the summer

The comments on this post are laughable.

I’ve been studying urban heat in graduate school for the past few years and can say that this is a very hot topic (pun intended). It is well understood that urban areas are typically warmer than their surrounding rural and natural environments, a commonly observed phenomenon known as the urban heat island (UHI) effect.

Recent studies have shown that vulnerable populations (i.e., low-income populations and minority communities) are disproportionately exposed to high air temperatures, raising environmental justice concerns.

This is not surprising because low-income populations and minority communities are generally located in areas with more impervious surfaces and less vegetation, which contribute significantly to the UHI effect.

Not sure any of you are understanding this. If you don’t understand what the Urban Heat Island is, you should read about it, maybe before commenting. It’s up to you. I don’t care.

This study is saying that certain income groups live in the hottest part of major urban areas. In a nutshell, the urban heat islands are areas within a major urban area that experience much higher temperatures than the outlier areas, due to many factors, including lack of vegetation, a higher concentration of buildings, a higher concentration of concrete/streets. These areas are usually located within the central urban core of major cities. People living in these “high heat microcosms” are more likely to have problems with heat exhaustion/heat stroke and death, associated with high heat.

Reading through these comments, most don’t understand whatsoever what the urban heat island is. It is a real problem that major urban areas face during the summer.

I came to America from Africa when I was 5. It was right during a very bad Florida heat wave and my sisters and I were huddled under a blanket shivering, because a Florida heatwave was so much colder than what we were used to in Africa. It has been 35 years, and I still cannot stand the cold. Anything below 60 degrees has me freezing. So, I would never want to live in the colder North. However, that is not what this article is really about. It is about the heat that gets trapped in the concrete, treeless cities. I am sure there are solutions we could put into place, like not tearing up every bit of green space in order to pack more people in, building green spaces on roofs of buildings to add insulation to keep the buildings cooler. This does not have to be a race problem, but one we can all solve.

Lies this is a brainwashing article for agenda21 the 4th industrial revolution, UN Agenda 2030, and, of course, the larger plan within which this all revolves, which is
United Nations Agenda 21 / Sustainable Development.

We are witnessing the Great Purge,
the Great Concentration of Wealth and Power, the Great Reveal of Willing Dictators,
the Great Reallocation of Resources, The Great Digital Revolution of the Surveillance State.
The Agenda for the 21st Century and beyond. It’s the Great Rehash of the Old Plan.

I’m going to start there.

UN Agenda 21 / Sustainable Development is the comprehensive blueprint, the plan of action as the UN calls it, to inventory and control all land, water, minerals, plants, animals, construction, means of production, energy, education, information, and all human beings in the world.
This is the Agenda for the 21st century. A blueprint for 100 years with milestones at 2020, 2030, 2035 and 2050.
Agenda 2030 is just a milestone within the main plan.

Agenda 21 / Sustainable Development is the global plan for inventory and control.
