Singapore wants to stop counting Covid cases. Its roadmap could be a model for other countries

Following a path similar to how it tracks influenza infections, Singapore will monitor those who fall seriously sick or how many are in intensive care units.

You all, knowing the number positive cases is still important and helpful, especially if a pandemic just started and vaccines are still not widely available. However the counting becomes less important when a country has the virus under control with better treatment, and the majority of the population is vaccinated. This make sense because even if you got covid-19, the symptom will be much milder, very much like the trend of the Influenza. Patients with more serious complications will naturally become the focus to get recovered. So in short, for a country to implement a model like in Singapore's, several criteria have to be met. For example, get VACCINATED first! Then we can talk about the rest.
