Opinion: US begins its reckoning on Native American children

As the US begins to examine its historical mistreatment of Native children in federal boarding schools, there are a handful of critical lessons it can take away from the Canadian investigative process into the same issue, writes Daniella Zalcman for CNN Opinion

News flash dummies. If your ancestors weren’t busy mistreating the natives for generations, there wouldn’t be a US. Don’t feel too bad. They were doing it to each other too. They just didn’t have the tech to be as efficient. On the upside, the Spanish banned their barbaric human sacrifice practices.
While you’re feeling bad about the natives you mistreated generations ago, you’ve probably butchered hundreds of thousands with war and sanctions in the Middle East, not to mention the four million Vietnamese you wiped out while you were busy playing peaceful hippies. Because being a dummy is nothing without being a hypocrite too.
Don’t feel so bad about slavery either. Before the Europeans raided the shores of Africa and bought slaves from other black African slave traders who were raiding their own continent for profit, Muslim blacks were raiding European shores and selling white people off to slavery in the Middle East.
