They are trying to keep the Trump agenda afloat by patching gaping holes with anything they can find and bailing furiously as Trump is rapidly sinking into his dementia. They are hoping that the 2022 election will put them back in power and then they will likely cut Trump loose. It's a major gamble that appears to be failing.
