1ºOne of the fascinating points out of all this is if a person was truly secure with their faith , whatever it is, then some cartoonist imparting a powerful image about a religion should hold no bearing whatsoever. It’s just an opinion at the end of the day and all people are entitled theirs. Some have larger platforms of expression than others but opinions are just opinions. Those who are bound with insecurity and constantly defending themselves against opinions don’t have much faith it would seem. Unless the faith constitutes fighting against and aggressively opposing all those who question it’s very motivations and history. Particularly on a continent like Europe that has seen a lot of extremist elements of religious zealots. This cartoonist was merely identifying with the general population at the time with his publication. And in so doing made an all too poignant point that the secular world identified with thereafter on a global scale.

3ºYou people shouldn’t think what he did back then is responsible for his death, thats actually far from it because at 86 years old. He has actually lived a very long life, he has been and seen a lot of things in the world. What he did back then that spark violence in some Muslim dominated nations, is to open people eyes to the sad reality of brutality of the past and to give the muslim people a sense of belongings to live in peace with other people that aren’t practicing their religion, and there should be no threat to life just because am not worshiping in the way manner you are worshiping. Freedom of religion is everyone one’s right, forcing your region down the throat of others is really uncivilized and barbaric. You mustn’t be a terrorist before you can become a muslim, worship your God the way and manner you deem fit and let me do mine, there’s no point poke noising into my affairs to prove a point. At the end we are all responsible for our individual deeds.

Freedom of expression should be a basic right in any society. There is no freedom without the free expression of ideas. If you take that right away or allow it to be compromised in any small way, you give away your power and your freedom.

Kurt was assigned the job because JP's editor wanted to test if there really was a problem painting the muslim prophet, because it sounded just as ridiculous as it is.
He didn't have a thing against muslims whatsoever.. but he did have this old drawing of a bearded man with a bomb in his turban laying around, from some random mideastern terror-event, so he asked if they could use that. Just call the guy Muhammed, if that is important to you, he told the editor.
Hence followed decades of living in fear and even an axeman breaking in his house, and terrorizing him and his family.
