Deaf-blind US Paralympian withdraws from Tokyo Games after request to bring mother is denied

“I’ve always been known as Becca the swimmer, and not Becca the deaf-blind person. Now I feel worthless.” US Paralympian Becca Meyers withdrew from the Tokyo Games because she couldn’t bring her mother, who is her personal care assistant, due to Covid-19 restrictions. After training for five years, it seems like “it was for nothing,” she says.

This whole thing has ruined so many lives, Unnecessarily.
Just think, it all could be over, by now, if the world would have just accepted the fact that some people are gonna die and the virus has to run its course.
The Truth Is, a virus cant be contained or controlled...
That has been proven, time and time again.
These lockdown & restrictions are a waste of time and resources.
Some things are inevitable....
We see all their efforts had no effect, including the fraudulent vaccine.
People are still contracting the virus and dying.
At some point, we have to this and ots outcome for what it is... at let things happen as they will.

It's interesting when a representative of the Olympics is interviewed, they emphatically state there's no safety issue.

This is a blind and deaf person. They are traveling to a destination they've never been before. There will only be one PCA for the entire group (34 people). Unless this group are in a open room cot situation with both males/females disabled, there's no way ONE person will be able to give accommodating assistance to those with individualistic issues & conditions..

How long would it take this ONE person to give everyone their meals? Help bathe & get them dressed? Heaven forbid, what if one person has a seizure, what will the others do?

That in itself shows how problematic this is.

This person won't know where they are, where furniture is, the bathroom, kitchen (if there is one in the room). If has to take medication, get to practice areas etc.

Keep in mind 1 person, that means she has absolutely no one to communicate with or able to know what's happening. Let alone she's left by herself for possibly hours. She could trip, bumping into furniture, even her suitcase & fall.

If there's a fire, she wouldn't know it nor how to get out. Worse, she's a female left in a vulnerable situation wouldn't be able to scream for help. How is this not unsafe?

Is this how one should be treated?

THIS IS NOT DISABILITY ACCOMMODATIONS!
Treat these people with respect & give them the proper accommodations. The 'demic' they are living with the demic with their PCAs!!!
