To think they came back home to hate, racism, segregation and Jim Crow; and several were killed by White mobs for wearing their uniforms; and they were not able to get government issued bank loans to buy homes and property like the White soldiers; so therefore they and their families have missed out on an accumulative of one billion dollars in family wealth. America owes these families and the African American Reparations and an large scale apology. Good job soldier and RIP.

Secondly:

The Tuskegee Airman were impressive and fierce fighter pilots.

During WW2, while escorting US bombers they had a solid record of protection. Losing bombers on only seven missions and a total of only 27, compared to an average of 46 among other 15th Air Force P-51 groups.

They destroyed 112 enemy aircraft in the air, another 150 on the ground and 148 damaged. This included three Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighters shot down.

They were also very successful at ground attack missions, including destroying 950 rail cars, trucks and other motor vehicles on the ground.

Like all heros of WW2, they deserve recognition for their service that they never received at the time.
