One of the US academics (that no-one listened to) suggested way back in 2013/14 that one option for Russia was to make Ukraine such a basket case that the EU/Nato would not want it (neither the eu) and so it serves its function as a “buffer zone”. I wonder if this is where Putin is actually heading - which could be terrible for Ukraine. Either that or - is this even possible..? He raises every city in the east to the ground - like Mariupol - and keeps at it month after month so there’s basically no-where to live, eventually no-one wants to live there and there’s no citizens left to defend just land), and he just takes the east over (and with it the gas fields)- is that even do-able/a potential strategy?

What does it matter in any case, the ship is at the bottom of the ocean. Usually that is what happens during a war, especially when started the war it is rather silly than to get emotional when you suffer casualties to pledge revenge .

Russia seems very disjointed since day one with this invasion or maybe they are over estimated and not as together as they pretended.
It seems it is not just the Russian military that's not having the war they wanted, their news stations and news reporters also seems on different pages, a they now claime World War Three has already started following the sinking of one of the country’s most prized warships.

If they did, they would have done so when the Soviet Union collapsed. Rest assured though that if NATO forces actually decided to get involved in the fighting which they won't, Russian forces would be annihilated in a conventional war. Your stuff is pretty crappy, except for Vodka. I believe the Russian people have been mislead. Putin wants to be Tsar. Hope Russians don't starve to death or freeze while he is trying. Meanwhile others suffer. It will be protracted and miserable, but on this path Russia will be the next North Korea. A pariah nation.
