So…you couldn’t be more wrong. In these cases SARS-COV-2 or adenovirus were present, and caused inflammation of the liver (aka hepatitis). The cases were in the UK & in the US…were in Alabama. What we know thus far was the novel coronavirus or adenovirus was found in these cases. Zero to do with the southern border. Could you sound more ignorant if you tried? Think there were real strict COVID restrictions in Alabama?…No. So, it was actually the complete opposite of what you thought. And they’re making a “big deal” about it because that’s what the WHO does…investigates health threats around the globe. As you said it’s unusual…hepatitis in young children (inflammation of their liver) severe enough in some cases that it required liver transplant. What we do know thus far was the novel coronavirus or adenovirus was found in several of these cases. Not Hep A, B, C viruses. Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver. That’s all the word means. It’s unusual because it’s an unknown cause-and In some of the cases it was severe enough to require liver transplant.

the adenovirus variant they had (41) is from the enteric group. otoh, hepatitis is a known complication of covid.
gotta tell ya, and i of course do not know, but i am doubtful that the kids in alabama spent their days in isolation. the mask mandate in alabama was lifted a year ago. alabama has the lowest vaccination rate in the country, and has experienced two large waves in the last nine months.
AND i am reading that not one of those kids was vaccinated. not one.
i am skeptical of the old "blame isolation " play being run again. poor isolation, it gets blamed for everything. that said, it does need to be investigated. so do the all the other possible paths. of course.
i'm skeptical, though, and think the path to hepatitis was likely much more direct.
no one seems to remember that every surface everywhere is swarming with microorganisms. surely the kids in question were not kept in a sterile bubble and protected from the billions of microorganisms inside their homes. surely their immune systems were not as pristine as a newborn ( whose gi tracts , btw, are colonized with staph and strep within 24 hours of birth. come on, man)
are those kids immunocompromised? no? then they are as much as risk as the next guy for this virus. and we see how that's working out.
isn't it really just a lot more likely that the kids were unvaccinated, they were exposed, they got sick?
