You posted just today “mental health in our student athletes cannot be ignored any longer” I agree with your sentiments. What I wouldn’t do is what you did here…comment “isn’t there any feel good story out there to report on rather than reaching for the narrative of doom and gloom. Yes, life can be challenging, maybe a story on tools to deal with that.” Those are your words…on an article about mental health. PTSD is a mental health issue…in this case it’s in response to a loved one critically ill in ICU and even dying. Yet…the compassion you had in the post on your page…was completely absent for these people. You should really look inward as to why that is.

Karon Jones the ups and down rollercoaster of CoVid on a ventilator was a nightmare. The last week he was on it was so horrible. I knew then that if he made it I would never be the same. Now, 6 months after he’s gone, it’s so hard all the time. Just today I had to talk myself down from the ledge… again. I know most of my trauma is in losing him… but the month he was on life support was excruciating. It didn’t have to be that difficult, in my opinion. But the regulations in place made it worse. Some of the hospital staff made it worse. Their bedside manner with me was unacceptable. His vitals would take a nosedive when two different nurses had care of him. I don’t get it. I won’t ever get it.

Kimm Brazzeal Rountree I know two people who were vaccinated and boosted who died on the vent. Whether people are vaccinated or not, they need to be treated with therapeutics. There are many anti-viral medications that doctors refused to give and it's cruel and inhumane. My husband works for a 22 hospital system that would give people NOTHING. They came out on the local news talking about how overworked they were and people were so sick, but as soon as the covid money ended on March 30th they have not admitted one patient with covid since March 31st. Now, they are treating people and sending them home.

Yes I unfortunately can relate with these findings. My dad fought for 29 days on a ventilator after fighting Covid-19 for weeks in Oct 2020. It was like going on a roller coaster with your loved ones but in different carts of sorts. Then you see one of their buckles break loose and them struggling to hold on for what felt like an eternity. You can’t help at all from a distance to ultimately watch them fall to their death in slow motion.

After the initial grief you then get to deal with the never ending comments and questions, in person and online from the non believers of this horrible virus. The laughing emoji’s are also insulting. I will never be the same.

Penelope Juno No, my father was in the hospital for 4 days, able to talk and text on the the phone and they refused to let anyone see him because of "covid protocol". Told me "we will give you 15 minutes when the time comes". On the 4th day they called me randomly and said come say bye...when I got there he was done, unable to do anything...he was denied the basic dignity of saying goodbye to his family while he was still fully capable...now, my friends mother was in the same hospital with a non covid related death, she was given a private room for a week with "all visitors welcome at any hour".....

Having gone through this phase for more than 2.5 months , when my father was on vent due to Covid , I could totally relate to each & every word the article has stated.
From the daily phone calls to the daily visits , just a word of reassurance one day to utter disappointment the very next , just to get a glimpse of our father from behind the glass door to request the staff to make him wear his glasses ( if he would ever open eyes , all these had such tremendous effects on our mental health .
The after results on us are now shown slowly after his death .
It was the emotional support of the nursing staff & few doctors that did it’s part in giving us a bit of respite in this situation.

Tammy Becker I’m sorry this Adam guy is Terrorizing you in your grief . My dad was dancing across the floor to 50’s music and a few weeks later on a vent from covid . He is still in the ICU, almost five weeks later today was the first day he got off the vent but he is still in a coma like state - but he has a trach in his throat , and he has needed blood transfusions and everything . It’s been a nightmare for us every day every call is so stressful . I had to go to urgent care for anxiety last week myself . Hugs to you . And your family . And as far as that Adam character goes I reported him for medical misinformation- don’t pay any attention to him - that’s all he is looking for is attention -

Sherman Petrillo thank you for your opinion. Really appreciate hearing your perspective. That is the beauty of free speech. We need tools to deal with the things that can be challenging in life and absolutely cause issues with mental health. Many of these articles don’t address giving outlets or solutions or even help for others. Mental health has become a huge issue in this country driven by a narrative of constant doom and gloom and not a narrative of helping our society deal with the challenges we have faced, especially in the past two years. Any life threatening medical condition or accident can most definitely cause these issues. I absolutely hope you find some peace from the events of the past two years as many have been driven to fear and worry. Thank you again for sharing a very passionate thought.

Karla Paulson Ryan do you complain about any story that’s sad? Around 9/11 if people spoke about the effects it had on them…were you like “isn’t there a feel good story?” The Holocaust, war veterans or families who lost people in war, Ukraine…do you just go “isn’t there any feel good stories?” 990,000 Americans have died. You’re invalidating what their families went through. You’re invalidating them. Why does it bother you so much that we become aware that they have PTSD? And no, not everyone gets PTSD who loses a loved one. Do you honestly think that? It’s not a narrative…it was the worst pandemic in 100 years. A once in a century pandemic…and nearly 1 Million of your fellow Americans have died, and many more suffering long term effects or disability. Not to mention the high rate of PTSD in healthcare workers now. It’s reality…it’s not a narrative. Grow up.

10ºTammy Becker no that sounds like an actual deadly disease, not the China virus. I don’t, I listen to facts and don’t live my life in fear of a cold. I wish covid was as deadly as people claim, I’d rather have that than have to live the rest of my life with no hope or future because people can’t move on from the scamdemic. It would be much easier to get a cold for a couple days than deal with the mental anguish from losing everything. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA imagine thinking the dead baby myocarditis clot shot does anything but increase your risk of death it does NOTHING to stop you from getting the sniffles. Perhaps you need to get your head screwed on straight and listen to science! I’m sorry for your loss and I hope you sue that hospital for murdering your husband for a 50k dollar bounty
