There has been no discernable increase in hospitalizations from COVID, despite a marked increase in the number of cases. So, the overwhelming majority of the population need not be concerned just because your dad happens to be one of the unlucky ones. Perhaps he has an underlying health condition or immune deficiency, making him vulnerable to a host of pathogens. Perhaps his illness was caused by something else which made him vulnerable to contracting COVID at the same time.

When the government curtails individual ,guaranteed rights and we don't hold them accountable..we lose our right to be citizens.
Take for example the Department of Misinformation.
The government now says what yo believe without deciding for ourselves to research and form a personal opinion about it.

We hardly went anywhere or have visitors .
We went when we had to for good snd things needed.
We did this in bulk to limit the outings.
Marked , hand sanitized, washed hands , distanced, shopped early or very late avoided contact my husband always wiped everything down and still he contacted covid somehow giving it to me as well .
Covid for me and my husband was and us far worse then when we had the swine flu .
Two months later I’m still having effects and tires me out easily along with needing inhalers and congestion meds Tylenol and others.
We traded our fear of immunization for the real thing snd live with regretted hindsight.
The pain is horrendous but our hope is in the Lord.
My advice to everyone , take covid seriously !

The gentleman in question is over 70 years old (in the actual highest risk group) but they will not discuss if he had any other mitigating factors like obesity/diabetes/smoked or other pre-existing conditions. (If I were a gambling man I’d put money on multiple.)
FYI- I was born with a immune-system disorder, got COVID and was in the hospital on oxygen.
But I’m not narcissistic enough to demand the world stop because of my statistically small susceptibility and outcome. Nor will I ignore the fact that the latest variants aren’t far less severe and demand the rest of the world modify their behavior to avoid something that science and data has proven will not harm them.

Why are such swarms entering the U.S. illegally NOW, particularly children? Newspapers in Mexico and Central and South America are actually describing U.S. “open borders,” encouraging people to come with promises of food stamps or “amnesty.” It is textbook Cloward-Piven strategy to overwhelm and collapse the economic and social systems, in order to replace them with a “new socialist order” under federal control.
Carried by this tsunami of illegals are the invisible “travelers” our politicians don’t like to mention: diseases the U.S. had controlled or virtually eradicated: tuberculosis (TB), Chagas disease, dengue fever, hepatitis, malaria, measles, plus more. I have been working on medical projects in Central and South America since 2009, so I am aware of problems these countries face from such diseases.
A public health crisis, the likes of which I have not seen in my lifetime, is looming. Hardest hit by exposures to these difficult-to-treat diseases will be elderly, children, immunosuppressed cancer-patients, patients with chronic lung disease or congestive heart failure. Drug-resistant tuberculosis is the most serious risk, but even diseases like measles can cause severe complications and death in older or immunocompromised patients.
TB is highly contagious – you catch it anywhere around infected people: schools, malls, buses, etc. The drug-resistant TB now coming across our borders requires a complex, extremely expensive treatment regimen that has serious side effects and a low cure rate.
Chagas, or “kissing bug” disease, caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, is carried by the triatomine bug that transmits disease to humans. Although “kissing bugs” are already here, they are not as widespread as in Latin America. Right now, Chagas disease is uncommon in the U.S., so many doctors do not think to check for it.
Chagas causes debilitating fatigue, headaches, body aches, nausea/vomiting, liver and spleen enlargement, swollen glands, loss of appetite. When Chagas reaches the chronic phase, medications will not cure it. It can kill by arrhythmias, congestive heart failure or sudden cardiac arrest.
Vaccine-preventable diseases like chicken pox, measles and whooping cough spread like wildfire among unvaccinated children. Other illnesses, along with scabies and head lice, also thrive as children are transported by bus and herded into crowded shelters – courtesy of the federal government.
