Imagine if everyone was making at least 25 to 30 an hour now! so you admit you did this when the minimum wage was much, much, much closer to being a living wage. 2ºMichelle Rosewell Davis your exactly right but our country gives you the opportunity to gain skills to make a better life. I work with our local goodwill. For the most part, most are disabled but have the desire for a better life. I respect that . Sometimes you have to work more than 1 job. I'm in the industry of home health care. Taking care of seniors. Some of those caregivers work 60 hours a week. When you ask them why? There response is pride and want to help people. Money is also a factor but these people want to help!

7ºShannon Sollman in a capitalist society labor markets and wages are determined by supply and demand. If you have skills in high demand, and there are only so many people with those skills, wages are going to be high. Any employers interest would be to expand the supply of labor to lower wages, that is where immigration comes in. This applies to both high skill jobs and low skill jobs. Low skill people are hurt more because there is already more competition. This is the sentiment the fox news types have tapped into in working class republicans. They dont seem to understand that the policy they vote for, not the immigrants themseves, are responsible for their declining wages.
