- The rising global temperature. In AGW this surge is initially caused by manmade CO2 but also more and more by methane. See below. In The Great Dying this resulted in a catastrophic temperature rise of 11 degrees Celsius because of a massive release of CO2 and methane. These two phenomena, temperature rise and greenhouse gas release, drive eachother. Such a huge global temperature rise in AGW is very plausible. I see no reason why this temperature rise would finally not also happen in AGW.

2ºMick Blok You would say it was climate change when the Peshtigo Fire occurred and killed thousands of people in Wisconsin in 1871. Yet fossil fuels weren't used like we use now until the 1880s.
The Great Fire of 1910 occurred and burnt millions of acres in the Pacific Northwest...yet automobiles weren't used like they are today.
Point being, the Earth is living. Like with us, it changes during time. Droughts aren't new. Freezes aren't new.
Am I saying to not be a good steward of the planet? Of course not, but fossil fuels aren't the main reason for the Earth doing what it has always been doing- changing.
