First on CNN: White House bolsters cyber office with hires from Microsoft and CIA

The Biden administration is building out a nascent White House office for strengthening federal cybersecurity policy and strategy by hiring a prominent Microsoft executive and a former CIA official, multiple people familiar with the matter told CNN.

1ºTremendously important but so incredible at how behind the eight ball, so much of the thinking has been. The ability to wage disinformation campaigns, indoctrination, ideological warfare, and capture not the machines of war but the minds of those who use the machines, is the greatest danger in our modern times. People can change the ideology of a targeted nation to create segments of populations within a nation who become the weaponized (and very disposable) means of a foreign nation to wage war on that nation. The ability to shut down power grids or override the fail safes of a nuclear plant or capture the targeting systems of a missile…creates ways to hijack everything which went into defense to turn it into part of the forces used against a nation.
