Luxury home sales see biggest decline since the start of the pandemic

Even the wealthiest Americans are starting to feel the effects of economic uncertainty.

George Brewer it's not a specific policy, but a collection of actions he's taken, especially all the EOs he signed that simply rescinded all of Trump's policies, regardless whether they were effective or not. He declared war on fossil fuels, so that sent a message that oil companies shouldn't think about increasing production again. The permitting process is rife with over-regulations. He's made it hard to even get a permit, because he's trying to re-engineer the economy way too fast. Oil production fell off during the pandemic for obvious reasons, and now he's made it very difficult to increase production again. So, instead of us producing the oil we need, and at one point we produced more oil than we used, which is where we need to be, Biden's going to ask other countries, like Venezuela, to produce more, which is ridiculous to give countries that are adversarial our money. Also, refinery capacity is causing a bottleneck, and there will never be another refinery built, so the US is affected by that as well. So, no, it's not a single policy. I believe you asked for that because you thought it would win you points, or something. It's not a single policy, but a wide range of policies and decisions that Biden has made that has created this environment.

Terry Lawrence here’s the deal: a president has no power over fuel cost, oil companies have over 9,000 drilling sites that they refuse to use. The border is not overrun and yes it still needs attention but again as president you only have so much power (this is a Congress job), as far as fentanyl (another Congress job /also in build back better had things to attack the problem). Leaving the military equipment, from 05-20 we already had left over 20 billion in equipment, 95% of the equipment is unusable, the 3 billion left by Biden 85% is retrograde and unusable (per the military). We are sending money to Ukrainian forces to keep that war over there in Ukraine’s country, if it spilled out of that country that means our troops would have to fight. I rather spend the $$ so Ukrainian forces can fight than pay with our troops lives. I’ve seen many measures trying to combat crime but let’s calm down , crime now is nowhere near as bad as it once was 20-30 years ago, America goes through ebbs and flows every 20 years with crime it’s nothing new. Biden is not the cause or is he letting supply chains suffer, the pandemic and lockdowns did that. We don’t have the workers to move it along. Inflation as bad as it is , is still better than a recession that we could’ve had. No he is not backing terrorist in Palestine (in fact we’ve actually been “secretly” bombing them and others.

Rob Swanson Blue states are not the only ones with high property and state taxes. Furthermore, it is the Blue states that pay most of the taxes to the federal government because of higher salaries and greater populations. You can easily look that up. Even Washington, District of Columbia, which is not even a state pays more taxes than several red states. Look it up. Parents have always been able to send children to their schools of their choice. Have you ever heard of magnets school? Maybe they don’t have them in red states. They are non private and have been around for years and unlike the Devos scheme to give government funds to private schools, do not lessen the funds for other public schools. Devos took funds away from public schools and put them in private schools that many public school students would not be admitted to even with federal funding. She did not add to the budget of public schools thereby defunding public school. Trump didn’t end the war in Afghanistan. He only made proposals, not even an official declaration. It is not the fault of the US that after 20 years, Afghanistan could not defend themselves better after all our training and equipment. By the way, the same type of catastrophes happened we we withdrew from Viet Nam under Nixon. Look it up. We never seem to be able to have a humanitarian withdrawal from war. As far as China, the world is a global economy. We will always get goods from other countries. Also, many of the US corporations moved their industries to China to avoid taxes, higher employment salaries and benefits, and regulations. Most of our goods, especially refrigerators and other appliance, computers chips, etc. come from China so blame corporation owned by the US who are working out of China and not make a scapegoat of China. And again, the tariffs don’t hurt China, they hurt the American consumer, however most everyday items never received a tariff in the first place. And why are you quoting a link from 2010 before Trump and Biden?

Rob Swanson nothing you said is accurate. There was no Middle East peace. As a matter of fact we were still in war in Afghanistan under Trump as well as conflicts that killed 2 Americans in Somalia. Did you forget? Did you forget that Trump dropped the so called" the mother of all bombs" costing billions? Contrary to what Trump said, no tarriffs were actually placed on China but he hurt the US by not allowing the farmers to sell to China. By the way, tarriffs on China would hurt the US consumers because China would pass the cost on to consumers and we buy a lot of goods from China. The tax policy was not fair and by capping salt, he caused many middle class Americans to pay more taxes because they could no longer deduct all of their state abd property taxes. The rapid depreciation in business only helped corporations which bought back stock instead of putting the money back into the business. The large corporations did not invest in the improvements or advancements in the technology of their businesses and many paid no taxes. Look it up. Lockdowns kept people from dying and even if there had not been lockdowns, businesses would have suffered because sick and dead people dont go to work, dont buy goods and services, dont travel or go out to eat. Lockdowns were prudent during a pandemic and were implemented all around the world. And by the way, inflation is being experienced all around the world, not just here. And as for school choice; Betsy Devos tried to destroy the public achool system by defunding it. That is not school choice. There has always been school options, not a Trump thing and alternative public school options have not done well in most locations. Further, parents in most cases, have no idea what is a sufficient school curriculum and the best education, they are just acting on their personal biases.Parents are not trained experts on education and most complaining were not even good students. So, all that you mentioned was misinformation and deception. Get a non biased source and learn the facts, not the rhetoric.

George Brewer I believe I said that oil production slacked of during the pandemic, and that's part of what happened. But in order to understand why those permits are useless, read what the ones in the industry say why they are. Yes, it's a complex issue, but there is no real help from Biden's administration. Pushing EVs too quickly, before the US is ready is wrong. BTW, Biden is claiming the oil companies are making record profits, so I don't know that claiming that it's not as profitable as it once was is accurate. The actual end price is set by the gas stations, and they can't rely on money made from gas to stay profitable. A lot of the cost is in the form of taxes. Living in Illinois by the Missouri border, it's very apparent.

Steve Gonnella I stood behind a guy last week in the grocery store who told me he had owned a trucking company for years. He had 32 truck drivers working for him, he had to let them go one at a time because there was no way he could keep it going with all the factors in play (Biden EOs, inflation, fuel prices, etc). He said the moment Biden stepped into office he started signing executive orders and changing policy that was devastating to his trucking business. He started farming instead (smart move - his family will have food this fall when the bottom really falls out.) When he turned around to tell me this he pointed to his shirt that said, “Let’s go Brandon.” And he was an African-American. This fall should be interesting.

Grizell Johnson Let's see, under Trump we had an ongoing working peace deal with North Korea. First and only president to do so. Trump was the first and only president to walk into North Korea (alone by the way) to meet with Jong. Trump was tirelessly working to getting better deals on tariffs, Trump wanted to bring manufacturing jobs back to America, even though dems opposed that. Under Trump, America had the best economy in decades, and Black Americans had the lowest unemployment in decades. We had cheap affordable gas, we had cheap affordable groceries, etc. What is so great with Biden? PLEASE answer this.

George Brewer C'Mon man--you know good & well that Brandon ( yes, I'm still on the "Brandon" thing ) campaigned on shutting down domestic oil, & coal--and he did both ! We were buying mmost of our oil from Russia & The Saudi's--now he is getting some from Venezuela--we get less the 15% from Canada & domestic sources. And there is NO way possible we can buy from foreign sources & get it as cheap as our own oil--that is why the price is going up so high. This is all on Brandon ( yep, I did it again ), and his socialistic policies. Cutting military & police spending--just the tip of the iceberg--but debating with a socialist is fruitless because all you want is to destroy this economy. Even his own party is losing faith in him in big numbers. His own party candidates didn't want him campaigning for them. He is poison. His policies, along with the power of both the house & senate, are killing our country, and you know it. Debate is over because you cannot be shown what you know is true.

Lauren Howard I somehow knew you were to add an African American in that soliloquy lol *sighs*, so the trucking industry (which I’m apart of and a union member of) is not falling apart, rather it’s drivers are getting older. I bet if you asked him how old were his drivers there would have been nobody under 50 working for him. If they left him I can guarantee it’s because they could get better pay at a bigger company. Dedicated truck drivers don’t quit to become farmers lol that’s why I’m suspicious of this fairytale. Truckers are pretty addicted to the road and love the money we make. Nice try

10ºGeorge Brewer it's real easy Skippy... Over spending and over regulating has led to inflation. He isn't the only one who overspent but this is on his watch. They have made it more difficult for the oil industries to drill. Biden has single handily destroyed the economy with his energy policies. Even Yellen is admitting they screwed up. I suppose the border wasn't his fault or the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, killing 13 service members and hundreds of civilians. Biden refuses to be a leader and accept responsibility. What happened to "The buck stops here" leadership? He is a demented old man that in any other circumstance, would be sitting in a care facility. #bidenflation #bordercrisis #gasprices #energycrisis #afghanistanDisaster #ChinaJoeBiden #TraitorJoe #BidenIsALaughingstock #
