1ºEd Posner If teachers were armed...Good gun safety practice requires that guns be unloaded and locked up when not in use; many schools also require that drugs as innocuous as aspirin be locked away from students. If there is an active shooting situation, the teacher (who has had only 24 hours of training) has to locate her key, unlock the storage place, remove and load the gun, flip off the safety, locate the gunman, make sure no students are in the way, and fire--all while trying to keep track of the students and asking the gunman politely to wait while she gets ready. If she is going to shoot, she has to trust her marksmanship in addition to making sure that no students are in the way of a potential ricochet off the cinder block walls. If a student is accidently hit by one of her shots, she will be in line for multiple lawsuits. Most public schools are strapped for funds--how will they pay for guns and ammunition for teachers? Will these be little handguns that will be like a peashooter against a man with an AR-15?
2ºThey realize that the minorities are educational wise and has put so much emphasis on a good education in their kids that they are over achievers being accepted into what was just prominent white Ivy League Colleges. The white race has just become to lazy and ignorant to realize what the value of a good educated is. So sad that this exists to the point where they feel intimidated that they actually think they will be of the minority. That’s where Abortion plays in, just keep the white woman home barefoot and pregnant. Not only are they threatened by the white race becoming extinct they are intimidated by a highly educated women white or other. 3ºI do not understand what scares liberals/democrats about guns! Any teacher that would have a gun is going to be properly trained with it, and part of that training would be how to store it and keep it away from kids!! The teachers would always keep the gun on their person. No kid is just going to walk up and try to get the gun off of the teacher or away from them! You liberal/democrats are too ignorant and do not have enough common sense to see that teachers trained with guns would save lives!
So again what scares you liberals/democrats about guns? I remind you of a quote from Admiral Hirohito of Japan during World War II, he said that you could never invade America because behind every blade of grass is a gun! That's why our land has never been invaded by a foreign Nation because of the very fact that we the people are armed! I would like to keep it that way!

5ºAnti gun folks will never see things any other way. Obviously protecting school children is nothing more than a guise to disarm everyone. It’s disgusting to think they would rather have your kids be sitting targets , without any chance of being safeguarded against a would be assassin. I’m not an advocate for the NRA but you all need to wake up and realize law abiding responsible gun owners have 0 to do with the rise in mass shootings. I understand it’s easier to blame them than to accept responsibility for raising a generation of disrespectful degenerates with no regard for human life. 7ºEd Posner Have to disagree. Our gun laws are pathetically weak. Only SOME sellers have to require background checks, and these checks only discover if the buyer has a criminal record; many shooters have a clean record up until the shooting. Any civilian over 18 can buy a high-capacity, high-speed killing machine--these have no use for civilians except to kill as many people in as short a time as possible. There is no reasonable limit on the amount of ammunition you can buy. Those found to be in possession of a gun illegally give it up, and then go get another one--ho hum. Then there is the boyfriend loophole...

But teachers aren't LEOs, so they probably don't need to learn how to do things like tactically drive a squad car, communicate on a tactical radio network, conduct searches of personnel and equipment, transport/transfer detainees, etc. The State of Ohio requires 737 hours of training to become a State police officer. That is 737 hours of training to take an individual from civilian to sworn officer enforcing laws. It is unreasonable to expect anyone not considering a law enforcement career to attend the academy. Because this is unreasonable, the State is offering teachers an additional 16 hours of firearm training above and beyond what the State requires for a CPL. The military only trains a couple of hours a year on firearms, the State of Ohio requires 8 hours of training for a CPL, so 24 hours of training for teachers is more than adequate.
9ºThe USA should just dish out guns to everyone and then sort each other out as and when necessary. What kind of culture is that where teachers would be carrying guns in classrooms? This is a classic example of a failed state not those in Africa where warlords sell gold and diamond to gun runners and use them against each other. USA public security has completely broken down because of political polarization such that one is either or as a result zero progress on guns control. Even those new efforts on gun control won't work because just after November, when the other guys win elections everything will fall off!

Actually you're not a liar you're just not too smart. According to the FBI statistics there are less than 15000 murders with firearms every year in which over 90% are by repeat criminals released from prison. So you just say things you don't have any facts you don't have any numbers that make sure a liar and that makes you a liberal. There are less than 2000 accidental shootings every single year and millions of crimes rapes and murders are stopped every year by law abiding citizens with firearms according to the cdc. You not knowing what you're talking about is pathetic you being allowed to vote is scary
