A floating city in the Maldives begins to take shape

The threat of rising seas is leading to a new form of architecture -- one that floats. In the Maldives, a nation on the frontlines of climate change, a floating city big enough to house 20,000 people is being constructed, with the first units being unveiled this month.

What could possibly go wrong with this plan? Although tropical cyclones may not form along Maldives' coast, they often move into the region from the Bay of Bengal or the Arabian sea during the transition period between the two monsoons. The damages caused by these cyclones have resulted in up to 18 northern islands becoming uninhabited. Seems rather short-sighted to believe that it couldn't happen here and where would you put the entire population of this place if they had to evacuate? Pitiful planning or poor execution of those plans is simply to let some force, other than reason, shape our reality...and reality always has a way of coming around to bite.
