Vern Welch I started working at 14. Then at 19 I had two jobs, only stopping to give birth to two wonderful kids. I am 72 years old, my husband is 78. We paid our fair share and we didn't whine about it. My husband served his country during Viet Nam. We have earned everything we get. Our generation didn't have the luxuries you have today, so we invented them. You wouldn't be walking around with a phone pasted to your ear if it weren't four our generation. What have you invented besides social media, a place where you can go complain how tough you have it. We didn't cause inflation. It's your greedy generation that decided tax breaks for corporations and the rich was going to save you. So here we are. And if you think that complaining instead of doing is going to help, you are part of the problem.

Oregano Christian it’s not the legally disabled we are against, it’s the able bodied people that choose not to work and instead milk the working classes money off the Government. Legislation needs to be changed on how SSI works to eliminate abuse of the system by blocking anyone that is not legally disabled, never worked or paid taxes, and under the age of 65. Without proof to document disability preventing someone from being able to work from a licensed medical professional they should not be allowed to collect any SSI. If the disability is not severe enough to prevent working then still let them have some SSI but not more than $1000 to $1200 a month as they can still work part time somewhere to make the rest of what they need each month. If they are deemed not disabled in any capacity by a healthcare professional then they collect nothing off SSI. If they have never worked and paid into SSI then they don’t collect anything because they did not contribute to the system with one exception, must be the spouse of a deceased recipient (shacked up and not married does not count).

Because of the chances of SSI being depleted by the moochers before I reach retirement in 30 to 35 years I have funds tied into both a 401k and a separate personal retirement fund, I’m making sure I got mine and I can retire when the time comes.

The sole responsibility of inflation WW is USA usi g Ukraine and the ppl to lose their lives in their deadly game of politics power and control & EU were their puppets in their NWO plan, no one wants! Now China & Russia are making deals to create a different central bank and many countries are signing up turn ing their backs on USA central bank! All thanks go USA who are quick to start international wars but NEVER IN THEIR HISTORY EVER WON ONE BUT expects the rest of us to pay the cost! Their fk'ing sanctions are making their economies stronger while we get poorer! SYAY OUT OF INTERNATIONAL WATERS THE LAWS CLEARLY STATES YOU HAVE BROKEN ALL INTERNATIONAL LAWS!

Vern Welch wow. You’re wrong. Reagan BORROWED from the SS fund to give corporations tax breaks back in the 1980’s and stole our money that we and former generation paid into. We should have been able to retire at 60 like we were told when we began working at 18. Then they kept raising retirement age. Now people might get to retire at 70 if they’re alive. We went to work at 18. Not like you millennials at 25-30 and didn’t live with mommy and daddy till then either and worked full time if not 50-60 hour work weeks. Most of you worked part time. There won’t be any money left by the time you’re 70 or however old they raise it to because of government mismanagement mostly from republicans so blame them. Not the generation that made this country run for decades before you ever got out of diapers

The GOP 2022 Platform in a nutshell
#1 The GOP plan to raise taxes on working families, seniors and active-duty military would impose financial pain and hardship on many Americans.
#2 The GOP plan to end federal support to state and local governments would defund jobs for public school teachers, police and firefighters.
#3 The GOP proposal to sunset all legislation every five years would create uncertainty for Americans who rely on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and veterans’ benefits.
#4 The GOP plan would raise taxes on millions of Americans and put programs like Social Security and Medicare in jeopardy.
VOTE BLUE To stop taxes on America's working poor & to save SS, Medicare, Medicaid, and Veterans Benefits.

Dux Benny I am old. I'm getting Social Security. It is not going to end any time soon. Even the whiny little Millennials will get theirs. And I am smart enough to understand that it's not MY place to tell other people what is best for them. This is something the left does consistently. Liberal men have no trouble telling women what is best for them; white liberals have no problem telling minorities what is best for them. Liberal women tell men what is best for them; black liberals tell Hispanics what is best for them; LGBTQ liberals tell straight people what is best for them. It's ridiculous and frankly, if I were you I'd be a little embarrassed at being so presumptuous that you can tell people you don't even know that YOU know better than THEY do what is best for THEM.

Medicare
Medicare is an insurance program. Medical bills are paid from trust funds which those covered have paid into. It serves people over 65 primarily, whatever their income; and serves younger disabled people and dialysis patients. Patients pay part of costs through deductibles for hospital and other costs. Small monthly premiums are required for non-hospital coverage. Medicare is a federal program. It is basically the same everywhere in the United States and is run by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, an agency of the federal government.

For more information regarding Medicare and its components, please go to http://www.medicare.gov.

Medicaid
Medicaid is an assistance program. It serves low-income people of every age. Patients usually pay no part of costs for covered medical expenses. A small co-payment is sometimes required. Medicaid is a federal-state program. It varies from state to state. It is run by state and local governments within federal guidelines. To see if you qualify for your state's Medicaid (or Children's Health Insurance) program, see: https://www.healthcare.gov/medicaid-chip/eligibility/

Social security is self supporting. Everybody says but there are more retirees these days. Yes there are. That's the way it works. In the beginning of Social Security there were less people in America. So the yearly amount collected was smaller but so was the amount of retirees. Now we have several times more retirees but it is balanced by the fact the population in America has grown exponentially and so have the workers. The ratio of retirees to workers has remained hovering around 3% since almost the beginning. The people that thought out Social Security realize that as the amount of retirees grew so would the amount of workers. The fund would stay self solvent forever. It's pretty easy math. The problem isn't Social Security. The problem is theft of Social Security funds by Republicans.

Leslie Rader Gaul I understand what you are saying in regard to annual increases.

However, let us not quickly forget the boomers start taking over political offices and corporate boardrooms in the 1980s-90s.

Once the were in charge, they were the ones running colleges and decided to take tuition rates to the moon. In the 1980s-1990, you could work a minimum wage job and pay tuition in 300-400 hours. Today you need to work 1,200-1,300 hours, but we are the entitled ones?

In the 1980s-1990s, 75% of all companies offered pensions. But the boomers elected in most boardrooms that anyone after them would not be qualified. Today, only 5-10% of companies offer pensions, but we are the entitled ones?

Since 1980, boomers had a "kick the can mentality" that added over $30 Trillion to the national debt at a cost of $240,000 per taxpayer ($20T by GOP and $10T by Dems), which I am "entitled" to be on the hook for?

They sent our generations to go die in a war...for oil, but we are the entitled ones?

Before we even THINK about raising Social Security & Medicare benefits that they think they are "entitled" too, I would like them to pay off at least $20-25T of the debt that they want to pass off to us, since they are the ones that elected other boomers that created this mess.

Yet...they they sit & wonder where all this inflation is coming from after freely printing off $8.2T over the past 5 years. GTFO.

Boomers will need to decided quickly how to they plan on paying this off. Otherwise we will decided for them once we take over. We will not burden this to our children, I'd rather we fund their colleges than to fund wars, corporate tax cuts for "trickle down", and their "entitlements".

Gen Z did not overturn Roe v. Wade, boomers did. They elected a boomer president, who nominated 3 radical boomer justices, that were approved by a senate ran by...boomers. I guess we will have to fix that too overtime.

10ºThis climate change is BS..it is all about corporations making big money...I still believe that with the millions of windmills and the tens of millions of solar panel they have a BIG effect on our climate..It appears we are having more extreme weather patterns and I blame it on all the heat produced by the solar panels and the turbalances created by all these windmills. Also our wildlife is being killed by these windmills. How really funny it is the left does not care if wildlife is killed by the windmills..It is because it is ALL ABOUT their agenda. Washington state is going to be taxed even more because of CO2 emissions and I don't know who comes up with this BS..inslee will be raising our =gas taxes so it will take more of our money to go to work, doctors appointments, shopping and just being free movement Americans..inslee will be controlling your movements.. inslee is a danger to every resident of this state..YOU really think large corporations who hire alot of people to work will stay here in this state. You think inflation is high wait until the 46 cent gas tax and other taxes inslee is ready to throw at us happens.
