If you look up all the crews involved in the Apollo programs you would see that each crew members have two things in common - they’re all men. And they are all white.
No women were on any of those crews. And no crew members were a minority.
Being first in anything is history in the making.
Obama was the first black president.
Kamala Harris is the first female VP, and the first non-white person to hold the office.
George Washington was the first US President.
Green Bay Packers were the first Super Bowl champions.
Jackie Robinson was the first black player in MLB.

Unfortunately there wasn’t a program ready to replace it so yes we did hitch rides with the Russians from 2011-2019, but SpaceX took over in 2020 carrying Americans to the ISS. US space technology is still 10-15 years ahead of China. SpaceX rockets and spacecraft alone are are the most advanced on earth. And their fully reusable Starship rocket is the most powerful rocket ever made by a factor of 2. And then you add in all of the new space companies like Blue Origin, Rocket Lab, etc. The US space program is booming right now.

4. She is the first female, and the first person of color to be on a NASA moon landing mission.

7ºDeciding now that a person has to be female and “a person of color” is going to put a cloud over the choice of the first people they chose who happen to fit those descriptions.
They cloud have just said they were going to pick the best qualified and then some would happen to be the first woman and the first person of color but by declaring, before they even start picking that those are the criteria for the moon landings now puts the cloud of gender and racial discrimination in the selection process…
It’s like saying that you’ll pick a woman of color as your running mate and then only select from a list of candidates that fits that description… or that your pick for a U.S. Supreme Court Justice is going to be a black woman and only pick from a list of candidates that matches those criteria…
