1ºHere are some realities. And some questions.
First, anyone who has ever replaced a phone or iPad will remember being able to back up their device to the cloud, then retrieving their data onto the new device. That ability was certainly there a year ago. In fact, if you take a picture with your phone you'll notice that your photo is often immediately backed up to a cloud; such a practice is automatic and you'd think that a government agency would have data preservation procedures in place, right? I mean, this stuff is important, as evidenced by the interest the National Archives has taken in this case.
So if text messages from the January 6 timeframe are "unavailable" it begs the question: why were there no data backups? Were agents instructed to avoid backing up their devices? If so, by whom?
Second, hardware refreshes are indeed scheduled, as the Secret Service leadership stated. Hardware refreshes can also be halted, even if the process has already begun. There are various reasons to suspend a refresh; among them are failures of the new device, legacy software that doesn’t work on the new device, or, I don’t know, an order from Congress to preserve all data from a specific time period. Here again, why was the refresh not halted the moment the SS received its communication from Congress? Who made that call and why?
Third, if a hardware refresh "accidentally" got rid of all data from the specific time period, how is it possible that the Service managed to "find" only the single message they sent to the committee?
I'm encouraged by the news that certain agents might actually have some of those text messages. I'm also not surprised. People who have been through refreshes often have certain things on their phones that they want to keep, whether it's a special photo, an application that's no longer available, or, I don't know, certain text messages their boss seems in a hurry to destroy.
When I heard that some Service members were getting lawyers, I immediately thought about this possibility. If agents were ordered to delete things in a campaign they perceived to be a cover-up, some of them might have decided to hold onto that data. The presence of a lawyer might very well be to allow an agent to come forward with that information without being punished for violating orders or policy.
Even in the example of these ten agents, if their phones show data being sent, it went somewhere. If the actual content is gone from their phones, it's possible someone else has a copy of the actual message.
That's the pesky thing about data. It's awfully hard to get rid of completely. And an effort to so completely remove all trace of specific information from a specific period of time suggests something far more than a hardware refresh.

3ºDaniel York I'm not here to be nasty towards anyone I think there's a lot of information that is not being told. I'm sorry people were nasty to you for your opinion. This committee only tells one side of the story. There's two sides to every coin and only one gets the air time? How would you like it if you were on trial but only prosecution witnesses are allowed? That's why these committee by the constitution should be 50/50 believe it or not you'd start getting more truth. They aren't letting in the opposition Pelosi wouldn't let two certain Republicans on the board so you get the narrative they want you to get. They don't want that because it would expose a lot of what they're up to. Always need the other side, put them together and the truth would prevail bit it's not on the democrats side. Just a perspective on me, yes I'm a conservative that is madly in love with one of the biggest liberals you'll ever meet. Yes we have our political arguments and she's always the louder and more upset one but at the end of the day I love her more than anything in this world.
4ºIn the land of the free and justice for all . The proper thing would be to throw every single one of them in jail because I am sure the data should be able to be obtained. This is a big joke on the justice department that some people committed serious felonies and are just walking free like nothing .....but if a brown man or black man is cought smoking a joint or a misdemeanor charge they'll throw the book at them doing 5 years on a possession charge? Come on it's now on the open where is the justice for all went?

Too many vacations, too much travel, and too much consumption. Do you really think they can expand the electrical grid×4 with green energy. 6ºThe whole charade is nothing more than a democratic cover up. You all know it. This committee refuses to do background searches on all the kooks that stormed the capital. Why? Maybe some weren't Trump supporters. Hmmm. Why did Pelosi refuse to green light the national guard that trump recommended? Hmmmm. What about this Epps guy? Why wasn't he interrogated ? Why doesn't any leftist news outlet play the part of trumps speech where he tells everyone to head to the capital in a peaceful and orderly fashion? People seem to forget that the FBI was investigating the people before that attack happened and afterwards and said that Trump had nothing to do with it. The committee is asking questions about this that had nothing to do with the attack and yet are not asking questions like who ordered the police to open the doors for the protesters or why did no one prepare for the protest when they were warned it was going to happen

10ºRM Scholbe I agree with you mostly..But,there was advance warning that there could be trouble at the capitol..So to me not to have Troops there would seem to be a dereliction of duty..Never said I wanted people who went into capitol killed ..All of it could have been prevented..People were let into the capitol..Why?? Who were the first ones there.??? The trouble started 45 minutes before Trump told his supporters to peacefully and patriotically make their voices heard..The sham committee never once played that statement. The way the voter fraud and corruption was handled or not handled is the scary part and needs to be investigated as far as I’m concerned.!! If we ever had an illegitimate president it’s now.
