1ºOf course we are. If it wasn’t for her our veteran would still be there and the arms dealer would still be in jail. However, it is two-fold. We have the woman who checks all of the boxed in modern day society, vs. the actual person who has done something for our country. We, as a country, have put aside our values for a rich, famous, African American, LGBTQ, woman, Basketball player over someone who has served our country. She’s been there for a few months. Trevor Reed had been there for over 3 years before his release, and Weiland is still there and has been for over 3 years himself. Cash rules everything around me. It’s pathetic that we cave as a nation for the rich and famous on the drop of a hat, but not those who have served for our country.
2ºI don’t know Griner. Have zero opinion about her personally or professionally. But this incessant narrative of ‘wrongfully detained’ is speculative at best. Possible a person brought a little cannabis into a country by accident ? And that country has laws against it? And penalties? I mean it sucks and hope she’s ok but. She said she did it and has put up a justification. And if she’s convicted I don’t see how she’s a political pawn if the rate is already 90%.
I’ve got no reason to justify or complement Russia’s legal system or any other but when Americans are in fact unlawfully imprisoned abroad, for years, it diminishes the moral high ground for their release when the US might make you a priority cuz you’re a famous athlete. You did a two minute story about a U.S. teacher imprisoned in Russia for over a year for the same crime but don’t think we’re gonna be trading an arms dealer for him. And didn’t him referred with any qualifiers.
3ºJane Hongsermeier it might be a trivial offense to you and most Americans BUT she was in Russia and broke Russian laws. A lot of countries have different views on drugs than you do and what may be deemed a misdemeanor possession offense here may be a felony somewhere else and that punishment could even include execution. I know that's not the case here but just an example of how different cultures view things. That aside .. her color and/or being gay is not the issue here ... people need to stop with the minority cards and start accepting responsibility for their actions.
4ºIs there any more Americans over there? Whelan has been there for years and no one tried to do anything for this man. Why? Why now? Is there more? If so…why are they not being put in the exchange? Maybe there isn’t anymore, but to think a US Marine has been there for years and then a WBA woman has been there 3 or 4 months is not right. They should have been seeking his release just as hard as the did Griner’s. I hope they get out, but this is a shame and if his parents hadn’t made a public outcry I don’t think he would have even been thought of. What a shame…

6ºIts amazing that our government does not use the same amount of effort to sanction the Mexican Government for allowing Mexico to remain corrupt and poison the world witht he violent drug cartels, ohhhhh but that would mean Joe Biden and the democrats would have to work hard and tell the truth LOL , its so disgusting that Biden and the democrats have no problems putting dsanctions on other countries andd even taking away USA citizens right or canceling them all together to try and to get them to do what democrats want, but the Mexican government now for 4 decades has been corrupt and allows drug cartels to run thier country and Joe Biden does ZERO, Merrick GArland does ZERO, VP HARIIS does nothing while mothes and daughters and fathers and sons are violently abused at the hands of drug cartels and under the watchful eye of the Mexican government who do ZERO to stop it. And there are USa politicians who rpofit from the cartels actions, its beyond disgusting , how about shut the border and sanction the Mexican Government until they help and then send in our Special ops community since the cartels are ten times worse then any terrorist group and kill a 100 times more people each year.
