Robert Wahbe storms can develop so rapidly they come out of nowhere though. I’m always super cautious about lightning, if I know it’s nearby or I hear thunder I don’t go outside. A couple weeks ago I had checked the radar, no storm systems, so we went outside and about 15 minutes out of nowhere lightning hit not far from me and my son, I could hear the electricity humming and looked over and it hit, then the big crack boom of thunder. We got very lucky. I didn’t hear any thunder, no dark clouds, no visible indication that a storm was coming in. It was like it had just developed right over us. So, even being precautious one can never predict what nature will do.

My daughter is a teacher in this district. Mom was outside with child waiting on sibling to be dismissed. Storm came up and she was struck via a tree. (The tree was struck, they suffered the impact of the diffusion of the energy). All dismissals were then held until storm rolled out to sea. This is common and dismissals are often held during this time of year if the storm is active at time is dismissal. Sounds like it was overcast, but my girl said the thunder and lightening didn’t start til dismissal was already in progress. Prayers to the family and community. So sad.
