I just don't watch TV. Instead, I play video games. Much more entertaining because they're interactive while a movie is just the same, fixed 100,000 pictures with the same audio. But yeah, streaming has a ton more options and you can almost watch anything whenever, wherever. Can't do that with cable or satellite TV! And it's so much cheaper as well. Why can't I just start with a sort of base package then add channels individually? If you want to add one more channel, you have to get a bunch of unwanted others to go with it, a big waste.

Chuck U. Farly Chris Licht, the new chairman and CEO of CNN Worldwide, said that they have decided to “focus our investment on CNN’s core news-gathering operations and in further building CNN Digital. This is not a decision about quality; we appreciate all of the work, ambition and creativity that went into building CNN+, an organization with terrific talent and compelling programming. But our customers and CNN will be best served with a simpler streaming choice.”

then there is this Less than a month after it launched, the streaming service CNN+ will wind down operations, as its new corporate owner, Warner Bros. Discovery, rethinks the news giant’s streaming strategy. The service will shut down April 30, after launching on March 29.

WarnerMedia had spent some $300 million on the launch of CNN+, and planned to spend hundreds of millions more in the coming months and years. Subscribers to CNN+ will receive prorated refunds for their fees.

CNN employees were informed of the decision Thursday by incoming CNN CEO Chris Licht. Andrew Morse, the CNN digital executive who oversaw the launch of CNN+, will depart the company. CNN executive Alex MacCallum, who had been CNN+’s GM, will step in to lead CNN Digital following Morse’s departure. or this That was fast.

CNN+, the online streaming service that debuted March 29, is dead, or at least dying: It will shut down for good April 30.

Boy, did Chris Wallace back the wrong horse.

As in any implosion, there is a host of factors behind it, but the biggest is Discovery’s acquisition of WarnerMedia, CNN’s parent company. The merger became official April 8; the new company, Warner Bros. Discovery, wasted no time cleaning house.
