Would you rip up your lawn for $6 a square foot? Welcome to drought-stricken California

The megadrought affecting the American West is forcing cities to crack down on lawn-watering, and pay residents to replace their lawns with drought-resistant plants

Mary Gleason Jenkins No I’m not from the Northeast, as I said in my comment I am currently in KY. Yes y’all are in an extreme drought and rivers are low. One good storm system and y’all could be caught back up on rainfall, which is all it would take to pull out of the drought. The Colorado River Basin has been in a drought for 23 years which also happens to also be the driest period in 100 years for the Basin. A couple storms isn’t going to suddenly fill Lake Mead. It’s gonna take a bit more to raise it 158 ft.

Kevin Kasprick what is your level of education in math(esp stats) & science?

"here is a strong scientific consensus that the Earth is warming and that this warming is mainly caused by human activities. This consensus is supported by various studies of scientists' opinions and by position statements of scientific organizations, many of which explicitly agree with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) synthesis reports.

Nearly all actively publishing climate scientists (97–100%) say humans are causing climate change.[4][5] Surveys of the scientific literature are another way to measure scientific consensus. A 2019 review of scientific papers found the consensus on the cause of climate change to be at 100%,[2] and a 2021 study concluded that over 99% of scientific papers agree on the human cause of climate change.[3] The small percentage of papers that disagreed with the consensus either cannot be replicated or contain errors."--https://en.wikipedia.org/..._climate_change

I moved from the best state about 20 years ago. I think we're seeing something like the dust bowl during the Great Depression, which was probably due to CLIMATE CHANGE. Hoover Dam is rapidly falling and this is the wettest monsoon season in a long time. I think this is because the GOP are mad that Clinton-Gore created lots of jobs during the good ole 1990s WHILE DOING A LOT TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT.
I voted for Bush-Cheney twice despite despising Cheney for Iraq and even I admit, America would be a lot better if Gore and Sen Clinton hadn't been cheated out of those awful elections in 2000 and 2016. The environment was put on the backburner for the sake of tax cuts and the economy/jobs. GOP has done every single thing they could to spite the environment for the sake of the economy.

We're screwed and humans need oxygen to survive, so we can't just move billions of humans (worldwide) to outer space
We're still wasting lots and lots of water trying to extract tiny bits of oil/gas from rocks (fracking)
Thomas Malthus's theory about overpopulation leading to a scarcity of food and water was right all those centuries ago.
