Alabama GOP county chair apologizes for posting an elephant logo with KKK imagery. NAACP wants him off the school board

A county NAACP chapter in northern Alabama is calling for the resignation of a school board member and local Republican Party chairman, who says his sharing on social media of a GOP elephant logo that included KKK imagery was unintended

Sharon Mahany they can be, but typically only companies care about something like that because it can reflect negatively on their company, but I doubt a left leaning website news org cares that one of its, probably out of 100s+ of images they create in a year, has been clipped and used in other places, typically by social media influencers/websites/memers that would use the image in a way that aligns with the article it came with.

Was a pretty popular image used in memes on Twitter for awhile after it was first used in the article.

Going out on a limb, but I’d assume they would never have even thought it was worth the trademark fee.

John Williams you do realize that that article is misleading. Pretty dishonest to not include the full quote.

But I guess it worked, because you fell for it.

“"So you know what, it’s fine. You’re changing history. You’re changing culture. And you had people -- and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists -- because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. Okay? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly.

"Now, in the other group also, you had some fine people. But you also had troublemakers, and you see them come with the black outfits and with the helmets, and with the baseball bats. You had a lot of bad people in the other group."

An apology and removal of the image is moot. It does not, and can not ever remove - or in any way useful - resolve the inferred extremist fervour that seems to be a boon to the ideology of people of his ilk and mindset. Yes, his position can be taken from him, but to do so would only serve to further his dislike of the group, who were the intended target of the image, and will also only intensify and embolden stronger beliefs to be passed onto and influence young minds around him. Remove him, and there for the want of a nail, another one pops up…ergo nothing gained, and the status quo remains. The moving finger writes, and having writ, moves on.

Bradley Harmon The only person who said that’s what “MAGA” meant was Bill Clinton, while he was campaigning for his wife!! The left-wing media took his idiotic interpretation of “Great Again” and ran with it as though it was fact. Every chance they can possibly turn something into racism, sexism, or any other kind of “ism” against groups of people they think their party owns, no matter how far they have to twist it to fit their narrative, they will find a way to do it. And frankly, POC are starting to get sick of being used as political propaganda. Why do you think Trump got a higher percentage of African American and Latino votes in 2020 than he did in 2016 if he was so “racist”? People need to wake TF up and stop letting the left control everyone’s thoughts with bs lies and divisive propaganda!

John Padgett What I said was that the conservatives were the Democrats back whenever the Democrats started the KKK. That’s a fact.
And today the KKK is still the conservatives. That’s also a fact.
Do you see the KKK supporting the Democratic Party today? Nope.
They support the conservative party.
Conservatives were the racist then when they created the KKK under the Democratic Party. And conservatives are the racist now because they are supported by the KKK as the Republican party.
Go read a history book man, it was always the conservatives.
Todays KKK doesn’t wear a hood, they simply refuse to put their photos up on their FB profiles…bravo- way to keep with tradition.

Don’t get me started on the kkk and PARTYS because in reality it was the Democratic Party that created it in 1865 and the Republican Party that sent out the largest marshal man hunt in American history for all the kkk members and it was the Democratic Party that took Robert Byrd in for refuge right before that took place. And how many kkk pop ups have been found in the Democratic Party? 2 main ones that I can think of. Robert Byrd which is the main one since he was given refuge, Ralph Northam but some unknown reason he kept getting voted in by the retards that claim to be against kkk and racism. Just like Robert Byrd got voted in and made it to congress and voted against the civil rights bill and those same retards/party defend him today. It doesn’t work that way.

Shari Lovett Solomon This is what he wrote. How would a sincere apology have been worded?

“I regret the mistake that was made, and it was just that- an unintended mistake. The image posted by me on a political Facebook page was not done with any malicious or harmful intent. Once made aware of the negative portion of the picture I immediately replaced it and followed up with an apology/explanation the next day,” Terry said in a statement.

“My error was rushing to post a thank you note to the outgoing chairperson, in doing so I did not properly review a cut and paste image used in that post from an internet search for a ‘GOP elephant’. I do not support or agree with any hate group agenda and certainly would not try to further their cause,” he said.

Britt Andersson yes I read the article and was already aware of this issue from other outlets. At this point your willfull ignorance begs the question of "Why are you purposely clinging to an idiotic narrative of whataboutism???"

What about the "left did the elephant..." ad nauseum BS? What about it? Did YOU read the Mother Jones article? If so, how do you ASSume that no racial undertones were attached to the image???

YOU get it right before spouting off like Chicken Little. Clutching your pearls with faux outrage is sooooo 10 years ago. Try to keep up. Do better

Beth Goodwine revolutions are not so simple. The results of the peaceful demonstrations has been incredible, Trump is gone, cops are finally being held responsible, hate crimes are finally getting results, and now we know who supports equality. It’s a human rights issue and if it bothers you…..

as the MAGA cult supports the Trump, the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers leading an insurrection. Beating up cops and defecating on our nations building. Chanting horrible words while the secret service was calling home to say good bye to their loved ones. Today, wanting to defund the DOJ because the orange man stole sensitive documents to do who knows what with.

Spare me your narrative, I’m on the good side and we’re winning!

10ºBradley Harmon You mean the left did everything in their power to spin the truth and misrepresent the facts to intentionally mislead their sheeple into believing the narrative of hate. They turn EVERYTHING into racism to attack their political opponents, that’s the only thing they know. They would never tell their brainwashed followers all the things Trump did for African American communities. Tell me, if the dems really cared about POC then why are those populations suffering the most in democrat run cities? Why didn’t Obama do more for those communities? Do you realize there’s a difference between peaceful BLM protests and uncontrollable riots, public harassment, and hate speech? It was those riots, the harassment, and the calling for dead cops that he, and the majority of Americans, took issue with. The looting, the fires, the violence, no one should be okay with that kind of behavior.
