3ºDrugs laws are generally the most ignorant of them all. You can kill your self in one night drinking alcohol but never smoking weed for example. It’s about money and control.
The war on drugs puts cops in violent dangerous positions and vilifies them in the public’s eye, while the US prison-industrial complex (prison pop of 400,000 rocketed to 2.3 mil) vastly expanded since the war on drugs started by Nixon. And these huge efforts have made exactly zero impact after decades and 1.5 tril spent (addiction rate still 1-2%; in fact Portugal’s complete legalization led to less usage). An addict will always get their fix. Prohibition simply makes it artificially scarce and there is no quality control etc. A lot of tax dollars go to drug enforcement/rehabilitation etc so these PACs/bureaucracies have a lot of revenue to lose if drugs were legal also (not to mention all those government employees/elected representatives directly involved in the trade, or the banks who launder all that cash).
The essentially unconstitutional prohibition on drugs simply made it scarce and thus elevated prices and put the supply networks in the hands of violent criminals. The high premiums keep the cartel operations funded and then some. For ex. 2 mil of cocaine from Columbia will be worth 30 mil by the time it leaves major points of entry in Mexico, and by the Time it hits the US east coast it’s worth 100 mil.
4ºYou want to know how good of a Sherriff he is.People were planning a "protest"/riot here in Polk.He showed people the differences between a peacful protest and a riot.He said people were allowed to protest peacfully .There was a 10pm curfew and no inncidents,people were in by 10pm.If you threaten any of them they will shoot you but on our local news they dont see color here and just as many White guys get offed than black guys.Media wont cover the first part thats why you people think Cops are racisit.They tell us to stand our ground if needed and the police do the same if needed no questions asked.Im proud to be in Polk County and have the best Sherriff in the Country.

6ºMichael Rooney lol MY Sheriffs Department has a logo but, Sheriffs full name all across it. I have never seen that and I retired from My local Sheriffs department.
However that said all the LE that were involved in this deserve a lot of kodos for this. Even though most of the arrestees will be if not already back in the streets very soon. And the bust has probably not made much of a dent in the drug chain.
I would like to know how suit cases of the stuff gets thru without being searched. I know scans would not have gotten that stuff but, I thought suitcases were opened.
7ºNowadays, everything is politicized. So what this sheriff is insinuating is that there’s higher ups at LAX who are responsible for the smuggling of these drugs all because LAX is in California and California is a blue state! What he did not mention was the TSA agents who screened these bags at the airport. I’m so there are one or two bad agents who are in the know of these drugs being loaded on the aircraft but unfortunately, the sheriff is putting the blame squarely on the LAX top brass. Does the sheriff even knows how much drugs are even confiscated on a daily basis at LAX or he thinks it’s only at Orlando. He was lucky they were able to catch that amount. I’m very sure that there are a lot of drugs that pass through Orlando every day without them even knowing about it. Keep politics out of everything that occurs in Florida
