Lowanda James when I was a taxi driver I was paid less than minimum wage and had had to buy gas for the company car. My boss regularly made choices that negatively impacted my safety. So I know a little about being unvalued. I am passionate about this because of my own negative experiences and I don't want anyone to be as poorly treated as I was

I'm sorry you have a lot to worry about. You are kinda accurate saying we live in different areas of the country. While I have my struggles I am aware that I am extremely blessed. Especially currently because 3 weeks ago I was injured during a work trip. My boss made sure that my medical expenses were paid for and I have been receiving my regular paycheck as I have been home recovering

Bus drivers wanting more pay are not your enemy. It's because they care about children they don't want a second job. They want to be focus on the safety of kids. We all know that driving while tired is dangerous. Add 30 kids as a distraction and it's amazing busses are as safe they are

School security is definitely an issue and it needs to be addressed sooner than later. But security at school is unrelated and unaffected by the pay of bus drivers

David Robert Domke I didn't say they were paid too much. I just said the taxpayer is already spending more to educate students than every other country. Perhaps the teachers unions would gain more support if they became advocates for using schools for educating, not parenting. Also, I think school athletics is very important in the educating process. It teaches lots of social skills. What they spend on stadiums, facilities, etc are generally regional. Some states and towns stress it more than others. Budgets are all decided by elected school boards. If parents didn't want it spent on stadiums, they would vote for board members with different viewpoints.

Ira Farris do I look like manage the budget of a state I don't live in?

So my current job is being a bed delivery driver. When someone buys a bed, they pay a delivery fee. I don't get the money they paid for the delivery. The delivery fee goes to my department which pays for trucks, fuel, tools, property rentals, etc and eventually my salary.

There's a lot going on schools. So it's pretty easy to come up with some stuff. Bus maintenance, building maintenance, salaries for teachers, janitors, principals, etc.

Honestly $15,000 per a student per a year seems if anything low.

Stevo Callahan at most you'll have 40 students on a football team. Are 40 students more important than their hundreds of classmates? Is the education for a student athlete going to improved based on comfortable a spectator is?

I totally understand wanting kids to have the best. But it shouldn't be limited to the students who are skilled and willing to compete. I would be happy with athletes getting more resources as long as children who aren't got treated the same.

A good example, I was born 1990. I was in the same school district from kindergarten to high school graduation. I was never any good at sports but thankfully I had supportive teachers and with their help I found my skill: digital art. 3d modeling, photo editing, video editing. When it came to art on a computer I knew a tiny bit of everything. However the computers I had access to, literally no changes to them from 1998 to 2008. They were the same machines the entire time I was in school. Yet my senior year I was attempting to more ambitious things. The projects I was working on were so much on the weak machines I would have to set my projects to render overnight and hope that no one touched the computer, there was a power failure, a file error or something as simple as setting the resolution correctly. I think kids who have talent should get the resources needed to make that talent amazing
