1ºOlivia Black Lack of Parenting definitely effects how teachers are able to do their jobs. Teachers are some of the most undervalued professionals in this nation. Having to put up with spoiled entitled brats or delinquents with guns; righteous parents who think they have the "right" to force their beliefs on the entire education system and/or think of teachers as babysitters; having to pay for their own classroom supplies from pencils to backpacks; having to use books that were outdated 50 years ago; having no support at all from the board of education AND the public; getting paid barely enough to afford a bowl of ramen! Who the Hell would want to be a teacher in this country?
2ºFlooded bathrooms on my first school DEO Cairo in Dokki I have not witnessed. But a flooded Restaurant Lavatory in thr Rehab City Mall I did wirness when my friend: Theoretical Physicist - Prof. Emmanuel Aristoteles Paschos - came to New Cairo back in the year 2005 to attend an International Conference and - of course - for Sightseeing. Upon heading to the WC of the Restaurant in the Basement of Rehab City Mall with the "Geat Fish Soup" and with the Display of an American Series on an ultra-big Screen, Emmamuel entered the washing room to find it flooded with water. Cost of living is a sliding scale and it fluctuates. But even WITH cost of living factored in. 8% in teacher pay saved from taxes... Florida doesnt rank badly in pay. We are probably right at average of the nation.
As a former teacher, it isnt the pay that is driving us out. It is the amount of garbage behaviors, threats to other kids safety, good kids not able to learn, entitled parents and Administration who are just trying to make it through the year also.
The education system needs to be re-thought.
