I think we should focus on Upnishads rather than Gita or Ramayana. Mahabharat and Ramayana can't stop wars, because those books contain war just like Quran and Old testament. Enough of Ramananda Sagar and BR Chopra, we need to explore Upnishads which preach about Brahm (God).
