1ºSeveral times in my life, when a famous actor I followed passed, people have checked in. And some, like Sean Connery, Leonard Nemoy, and Carrie Fisher, have hit extremely hard in their passing.
But today’s news hits especially hard. There is only the one queen: she’s been there for (seemingly) forever. For my entire career I have talked about what would happen when she passed. I have usually joked that she would outlive me and my students. But that ended today.
For those who don’t think this is a big moment, I just want to remind you that she reigned during 14 American president’s terms. She helped the UK’s transition from the largest empire in history to the Commonwealth. And at least ceremonially, she was still the head of 56 of the almost 200 countires in the world. So yeah, this is huge folks.

3ºShe was working till the last. Just this last Tuesday, she was meeting Liz Truss and asking her to form a new government.
She is probably one of the most iconic leaders of the world. She exemplified the meaning of the term the “Greatest Generation” Her steady, graceful hand guided not only the UK but also that of the world.
Her passing marks an end to a values based leadership that is so uncommon today. So tenacious. So dedicated. So steady. So duty bound… yes. Queen Elizabeth was a rock of stability in a unstable world. The world will miss you! Rest In Peace!
