CNN anchor Bernard Shaw dead at 82

Former CNN anchor Bernard Shaw died of pneumonia unrelated to Covid-19, Shaw’s family announced in a statement. Shaw was 82.

1ºI am deeply saddened to hear of Bernie’s passing. He was one of the great, smart, talented, and wonderful people in my life. He was committed to excellence - and collegial collaboration to achieve good work. He is an icon of the TV news business. Bernie was my anchor along with Judy Woodruff as we launched CNN Presents on Sunday nights. And again when we spent hours, days, weeks together crafting a multi-part CNN Special Reports documentary series on the War in the Gulf. My last memory of Bernie was laughing and story-telling over martinis in Las Vegas when he was there to interview Ted Turner and I was premiering TiVo.
