Tamara Tam even tho she didn't identify someone in specific, she claimed and sustained the story of being kidnapped by 2 Hispanic women. That alone, should warrant a hate crime. Just imagine being a Hispanic woman and being at the wrong place, wrong time like the Central Park 5, who where convicted without any evidence but just identification from the victim? 6 years later, and she still sustained those claims. And if you go on social media, you will find multiple Hispanic people were questioned because of her. 3 of them claiming they were let go off their work because of that.
Out of all the races, and instead of saying they were 2 women, she chose to say they were Hispanic.
A hate crime is a “criminal offense against a person or property motivated in whole or in part by an offender's bias against a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender or gender identity.”

I think anyone who lies about crimes including police need to serve the term that the victims would have served. If you say you were kidnapped and people are arrested you get whatever kidnapping would have gotten them in court just the average. So if the average is 8 years then 8 years.

If a cop lies and says someone resisted then they should go to jail for double the amount of time. They are supposed to have the public trust and lying about something so serious on their word is worse. You are a played by the citizenry to protect and serve not to lie and ruin peoples lives. If resisting is 18 months on average cops should get 36 months.

Sally Cutts It’s not MY definition, genius.

A hate crime is prejudice-motivated crime against a VICTIM because of their race, ethnicity or membership in a group…

Example, committing a violent act or a threat of violent act against someone because of their race or orientation.

In this incident, she simply made up a fake story about getting kidnapped and used Hispanic stereotypes in her lie. Again, absolutely wrong and insulting to the Hispanic community… but it wasn’t a hate crime.

And yes, Einstein… In order for a hate crime to occur there has to be an actual victim. This woman MADE UP two non-existent Hispanic people that never kidnapped her.

Get it now!!!?! Good.

Tamara Tam the thing is, out of the people in this comment section YOU wake up and CHOSE ME to exercise your expertise without any intention to educate but to belittle. I hope that makes you feel better. And I like I stated in a previous comment, you know more than me because you are a lawyer. The correct and humble approach would have been "as a lawyer, the concept or definition of what you have of this or that is incorrect. Please Google it or let me explain it to you... also, she was charged with a federal crime which due to the seriousness of this or that, it means this...". You didn't even replied to the original comment who brought up "hate crime" into question. Instead you chose a commenter under that comment. Also, we all know that the American justice system is not the same for white Americans. Everybody is a fish in their own ocean or matter of expertise. In the same way you have the free right to be sarcastic and exercise your unsolicited opinion, so do others to speculate and provide their unsolicited opinions as well. My respect was lost when you chose to minimize whatever ignorant opinion I had due to lack of expertise, and let the opportunity to be waste to use the power to educate, correct and interact, without self seeking glory and humiliation. Bless day to you.
