1ºThey did exactly as I would have for if I had won that jackpot!! They spent that time getting everything in order(lawyers, jobs, taxes figured out, one lump sum or payments and everything else involved)which was their best option considering when you win the amount of dillbags that come looking for you are off their rockers!! I’ve known one big winner(49 years old at the time) $27million after taxes and 30-40 year payments and he had churches, kindergarten classmates, family from 2k miles away, random people knocking daily and it was so ridiculous he had to basically go in hiding for a few years!!

In Canada 95% of Lotto and Casino winnings are classified "windfalls" and you're not taxed at all on the money unless you invest it to make more money.
That's the difference I was referring to.
We don't get taxed on our winnings up here.
If I go to the casino and win a $50k jackpot they give me the full $50k and I take it home with me. The only taxes I have to pay in it is on the interest it makes me while sitting in the bank.

It’s the same thing going to the casino putting your money what you made working you push this button on the slot machine and you won the jackpot it’s your money the person next to you who played on that machine earlier in the day they don’t get that money they have no reason to ask you for half the money why do you or other people think I deserve money oh they should give it out to other people no it’s greed if they never won the money you would even care or anyone wouldn’t care but now they have money they’re your friend
4ºGamaliel Garcia no, an annuity payment is because the cash lump sum is what buys the annuity payments over the twenty years. You receive more money and hence the billion mentioned due to interest that is also paid over the years of the annuity payments.
You don’t get penalized for taking the lump sum….you just don’t get the interest payments that the annuity payments would have.
And you still pay taxes each year on the winnings.
There isn’t a difference to pocket in the way you are suggesting.
Social Security and Pensions are annuities too.
That’s why it is FICA tax= federal insurance contributions act.
What the lottery “keeps” is a percentage of the ticket sales…. Only a percentage goes to the actual prizes.
5ºSusan Malove it will ruin my life I have no reason to spend it on fast cars big mansions my family is so tiny there’s no one else will come after me hello my old extended family may not even know I’m alive because well that’s what’s good about having a different last name because last name changes if a different father wants to adopt and become the father and I get his last name. If I won I would just have a decent home pay off all my debt by precious metals not a lot but Sippin savings help my nephews into college I will be very careful because I don’t trust the parents with money and that’s it there’s no one else hell because my mom was the only child and my dad I’ll consider his family family because I’m not blood and they haven’t talk to me in years.
