The protests erupted after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who was stopped and detained by Iran’s morality police.

Anne D'Agnillo Texas is not nearly the dump New York is. I've been in big cities all over the world and NO place is as dirty as NYC. I guess their schools are pretty bad, too, because if you are a product of them and you don't know legal from illegal, that pretty much says it all. When I go to the bank I take my own money because that is LEGAL whereas taking someone else's is ILLEGAL. When I go into a house I go into my own because that is LEGAL, but going into my neighbor's house without invitation is ILLEGAL. Your parents might want to ask for a refund on their taxes if you got all the way through school and still can't tell the difference in LEGAL and ILLEGAL.

Abraham Okie Pius, and you're too dumb to see the narrative that's being pushed around. The idea that evil only exists in Africa and Middle Eastern countries. It's the main reason why white people know nothing about Africa. They think it's a country. They don't believe Africa has cities like New York or L.A. They discredit these places so that they're seen as gods when they're not. Crime is everywhere, not just in Iran. Don't oversensationalize it. The media has been playing these games for many years. It's an agenda. I'm sorry u don't see that. I don't blame u.

Wanda Dukes Harper You don't know what state I'm in most of the year. I only live in Texas for a couple of months a year. Hint: It's a state near Texas that gets all the wonderful migrants soon coming your way. Like the ones down the street, with 12 people in a house with an illegal second story built on. They have 9 cars as of today, some of which run, some of which are rat hotels. So far in the last 5 years I have and TWO teenaged boys killed in front of my house in TWO separate incidents because of the Mexican gang warfare that goes on. I hope you get the pleasure very soon. If Governors Abbott and DeSantis have their way all you people who love poorbrownpeoplewhojustcameheretomakeabetterlifeanddojobslazyAmericanswon'tdo as long as they're somewhere else will get a taste of what the entire Southwestern US has been suffering. I can't wait! You'll squeal even louder than those rich people in Martha's Vineyard!

Cristina Tănase It's not a time to joke. I reckon you are 22 ish yourself: how would you find it if you'd go vacationing with your family then get cought by morality police for not even truly having misbehaved then be bashed with your head against the car to get in and disappear and then be found brain dead with a heart attack on the hospital bed? These things have been happening the last decades to iranian women and BOTH MEN AND WOMEN are sick of it! I know because I have relatives there and I know what it is like to grow up with a suffocating regime: her generation, to your notice missy didn't choose this regime but was born into it's oppression. So before you make a comment about a country in pain and need, women similar to you agonizing and being killed, make sure you know what you talk of...

So called 'morality police' hitting women so hard on the head that they die because they do not wish to wear the cloth of oppression over their hair is appalling. As a boy growing up in a British influenced non-religious home in the 1960's one of the fundamentals I was taught very early was that a boy should never hit a girl. While the political leadership was brutal under the Shah's dictatorship overall the people seem worse off under the post-Islamic Revolution mullahs. Here is hoping the current dissent in Iran leads to democratic freedoms and the end of religious oppression for its people. America must stop religious oppression of its own people by making abortion legal once and for all. America must also fend off the Shah-like totalitarian fascism of Trump. Democracy is not perfect, but it is better than anything else by far.

Warda Mohamed Mahmood I think your "freewill" has been stifled if you think you need to wear a hijab because of your religion. No need to hide who you are in this country because we prefer to see the "real" you. There is no shame in that. If there is, then that is a problem.
And seriously, your hair being shown is not gonna prevent us all from getting a cup of coffee and going on our way and living our lives. No matter how pretty you are.
Of course in this country, thankfully you can wear one if you want to. If you really think you are getting something good out of it then by all means continue on.
But you "can" leave it behind.

Rechard Yew no! Because some of the American women to abortion only think on what they want from their body rather than how God wants them to be. That is not good. Even in your religion many are wearing hijab for the sake that they are holy while they are not. So seeing yourself the way people see you rather than the way God see you. is wrong, because HOLINESS is willing what our father (God) wills, wanting it, embracing it, accepting it, and making it your own only you in depth of your freedom can do that.
So my brother or my sister learn to see yourself the way God sees you rather than the way people see you. Thank you and may God bless you. PRAY THAT GOD WILL GIVE GRACE TO LIVE FAITHFULLY ACCORDING TO HIS WILL.

Domi Umtiti Mkare whose problem is it? She’s an 22 year old Iranian woman who was arrested by the « morality police » for not wearing a hijab correctly (in their opinion). Witnesses have claimed she was hit in the head with a baton and taken into custody. The next thing her family hears about her she’s in a coma at a hospital where she dies 3 days later. All this happened in Iran. So again, whose problem is it that a group of Iranian men with a twisted view and interpretation of religion and who are supported by their government act this way?
And yes, young women die where I’m from. But there is a credible and serious effort to hold those responsible for the crimes accountable instead of claiming that they die of « cardiac problems ».

10ºLivMa'ayan Knightly oh, sorry, didn't mean to offend you with my mostly positive comment with "a twist"... If you totally ignore the first part of my comment and wouldn't have started immediately bashing me for having a sense of humor, you'd see that I actually agree with what is going on and I am extremely happy that the women are taking it upon themselves to actually start protesting and "laying it on thick", as you might say. And yes, I HAVE been "caught by morality police" before as well, and as you night have guessed, I did not misbehave. I was walking ON THE STREET, ok? I've been harassed on the street and "frowned upon" my whole entire life, people shouting at me from across the street to "kill myself" or "go back to the cemetery, Morticia"..."do you cut your veins?!?" They asked.... :)...weirdos following me down the street and theatening to beat me up to see if I have "black blood" LOL.. it's easy for you to assume I went through my life unscathed just because I'm what...??? Special in some way?? Or what's your actual reasoning? I even got jumped by the freaking police and placed under arrest ( and I was a minor back then, fyi ) just for LOOKING DIFFERENT and "looking suspicious" :) so don't tell me I don't know how it is to be assaulted, k?
