1ºJuli Benve You're right; they don't think of the long term but because of this oversight, now the US is looking for way to diversify their manufacturing. I get it costs money to train and provide infrastructure it's costing the US more now that their manufacturing is limited to a few distance countries. It may be a good time for big tech to look to Mexico and Central America. I am not saying this to be bias (I am Central American) but logistically, it makes complete sense. This way the locals prosper and the US gains by having a closer manufacturing hub.

remember the globaliphobic movement in 2002-2008?.. where they were protesting worldwide and news put them as radicals and anti patriotics and as enemies of the free market??
well, they pretty much talked about this.
Companies wanted a global economy, global production, the idea was to outsource basic production so developed companies could produce more high advanced tech and research..
But, well.. countries changed laws, taxations, everything was settled.. and.. they outsourced what they promissed they would produce in those countries. Money came first after all.. and what globaliphobics feared the most happened.. "but hey! we won! those rioters dissapeared!"
The idea would be.. "if you can afford something American made.. buy it".. but people, even the most patriotic american still buys chinese.. I mean, even f*cking Trump clothing line is made in Mexico and China..
3ºWahh Nxanxe the original idea was "china will make the basic production like tshirts and tupperwares, and the US (west countries) will make the more advanced technology like CPU's, Medical, professional tools, aeronautics". BUT.. companies saw the money, they just outsourced everything and.. they screwed the original plan.
It's not abouyt the chinese, now china will make iphones and even if we nuke china out of the map, the new enemy will be India.. and then malaysia, and then Vietnam again (they produce a lot).. the problem is not the country, it's the companies but people refuse to see that..
"New iPhone is produced in china!!!.. let's protest against china, let's protest against our governors whatever democrat or republican flavor they are, let's protest against our own people.. But.. why not protest on Apple headquarters?? ohh right!, they are in Ireland as Apple is avoiding american taxes since 1980 (you can google it).. well, then complain in the cupertino offices then as those are the "real" offices.. but no, people for some reason don't like to attack companies, and companies are the source of the problem.
