What an incredibly sad story with a horrific ending for so many. He was just 14 at the time. Even after 25 years the families of the victims will never have their loved ones back and their lives are changed forever. Prison is a place for reform and it sounds like this young man has done his very best to do that.
This now becomes a situation where is it in the public‘s best interest to let him out after serving 25 years of a life sentence? Unfortunately his mental health is still an issue if he is still hearing voices and hearing voices was a contributing factor in the shooting to begin with. I’m glad that he has a plan to live with his parents but what happens when his parents are no longer here to care for him, who is going to take care of him?

His mental health has been something he has worked on and is still hearing voices so it is clear that he needs to remain where he is for the safety of the community he will be a part of.

What happens when he can’t find a job? Will be blame them and the voices tell him to kill the people that work for that company? What has been done to provide coping skills to deal with rejection and disappointment?

I think it may be in the best interest of the public for him to remain where he is. This is just sad all around.

Erin McHenry King you cant make that reasoning. Because what you have to consider is the total sentence. Not the sentence for every person killed. Life imprisonment is cruel. And prisons should be more humane. Every cell should be a mini appartment and prisoners should be allowed to go outside their cells and socialize. Within the prison walls. And there should be more police in prison to make sure there is no prison violence. It is the norway method. And in norway crime is much less than in the u.s. and recidivism is less as well. And there should be more police on the streets but there should be police reform.

It was enough for me to see the photo of the murderer during his arrest in the article and I knew immediately, and then I read it in the text and I was right, the boy was physically abused at school. Usually people like him, with glasses and who are not athletic, are made fun of by bullies at school, whether they are popular or those who are not popular but like to cause problems for themselves and others. In most cases of school shootings, the perpetrators were children who suffered peer violence. Then these children think about only one thing over and over again: they want the violence against them to stop and they want revenge. Later, in every such case, victims are also some who have nothing to do with the victim because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. You need to do much, much more to deal with peer violence so that these things don't happen.

Dakota Jourdan You aren't reading my post... so I'll repeat...
In most states (including the one I live in) sales at gun shows, open markets ( like flea markets) and private gun sales ( between two people) are NOT subject to regulation.
I can go to a gun show at the Tulsa Expo Center and buy THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF FIRE ARMS and so nothing more than pay for them and walk out.
I can buy THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF FIRE ARMS in a 'private gun sale' (just me and the guy selling them) and not have to sign anything or wait for a background check.
Can I possibly make it any clearer than that about how easy it is to buy a firearm?

Dakota Jourdan You posted that ...
'It's much harder than ever . You have to pass a background check to purchase any firearm legally from a licensed dealer'
Verbatim from your previous text.
So...it's acceptable/safer to require a background check on firearms when purchasing from a licensed dealer BUT a background check is irrelevant/unnecessary when a couple of guys buy guns from one another in their kitchen?
When you sell a car it's required to have a title of ownership... government requirements for a tag. You must have insurance to drive a car.... government requirements to drive/own a car...you have to have a pile of paper work to sell/buy a house... government requirements for taxation purposes....you are required to prove to the government who you are to have a passport or vote in elections...BUT trading firearms is so sacred that it should be done without any regulation of government involvement ?

Alvise, you know what’s cruel- killing three people, and attempting to kill many more. You know who got an actual life sentence? Those three kids and the families that they stole them from. The total sentence is LIFE IN PRISON, the ONLY reason he’s even being considered for parole is because he was a minor. The only thing he should be considered for, is a move to a lifelong mental health facility.

Prisoners are allowed to go out of their cells and socialize unless they’re in solitary confinement. If they want a mini apartment, they’re more than welcome to not be murders and stay a productive member of society.

Robin Moss Hello I love your comment, I can guess that such comment comes only from nice and caring people like you..I'm really much impressed about your profile and personalities. I also admire your good sense of humor on here. I don't normally write in the comment section, but I think you deserve this compliment....I'll like to be your friend...yet, I've tried sending you a request several times but it doesn't go through. I would be so happy if you can just click on my profile and send me a request, but if you find this message embarrassing, please forgive my manners, have a safe day

When will the parole board hear the cases of the 3 dead kids whose friends and families want them alive again? Do they have the power and authority to make that happen? If not, I don't think they should send the message to the hundreds more school shooters who have killed countless other innocent children and educational professionals, which in effect, turned schools into prison like institutions "for the safety of the students and staff" is ok and they'll only get 25 years and then some parole. Why let the murderer of children put of a prison simply to turn the schools into prisons while they strengthen amd grease the for-profit school-to-prison pipeline?

10ºThis is a hard one. While I don’t think anyone who kills a child or shots up a school with intent to kill should EVER be out of prison. I also know that a 14 year olds brain is not done developing. The amount of dumb stuff I did and was talked into doing is embarrassing! No I would have not did this! However added trauma and social environment molds children. So maybe this kid has changed and does deserve a second chance. It would be hard to tell. And honestly it would be hard as a parent of one of those children that was shot to be ok with this.
Like I said a very hard one here.
