2ºYa, Ive been around wild bears at a garbage dump so many times I lost count. Sometimes you could get a dozen of them at this small local dump in a small municipality.
And I can attest to the fact that just seeing what bears tend to gravitate to to eat at a dump, when given the chance, a few doughnuts seems to me to be something that would delight them with no end. Sugery bite sized treats that I have little doubt of any kind would quickly put a bear smile on their face making doughnuts an instant favorite for them.
I watched idiots literally bring peanut butter sandwiches to the dump to hand feed them. SO dangerous. I never seen a happy bear ever when the food being handed to them ended. They seem to feel if you have one, you probably have more, and should be feeding them until they cant stand the thought of eating anymore. ANd for a hungry bear in the fall, thats more groceries then you want to think about.
I cant imagine standing there with a box of doughnuts doing that. LOL. As soon as the bear realized the doughnuts were coming out of the box, Ive seen many a bear that would just as soon take out the middleman and take the box for themselves. The bear dosnt mind taking food from your hand, so long as the bear thinks your 'just making it appear' for them. If they think you got a bunch of it, and are not handing it all over to them, some bears will decide they have better ideas. I've seen it and I've watched the bear feeding idiots run.
Its clear this hunter was just setting the doughnuts out and about as bait. I can say, with what I know about bears and their feeding habits, this just isnt fair. And I dont think its anything like even sort of a good idea to get bears loving doughnuts. Because I can assure you, its not something they would soon forget.
