Norma Baltzer what you and most Republicans don't seem to understand that inflation and gas prices are a global problem. It's all over the world..do you want to blame Biden for that also. Biden is doing his best, why don't you blame the greedy gas companies that have made billions in profits instead of passing on just a tiny bit to their consumers, how about that. Inflation unfortunately has a lot to do with covid that has turned the world upside down and is only starting to adjust but will probably take another year or two not to mention the war in Ukraine. I do understand that some Americans just can't see past their own little world and don't realize that most people in our world have it much worse and want to blame Biden for everything. Without a doubt I would vote for Biden again if he chooses to run in 2024 democracy is important to me!!

He placed 90,000 Somalies in Minneapolis, to give us the likes of Ilhan Oman for decades to come. Trump was closing the border, now it's a free for all. Sen Scott of FL. made a bill, never adopted or brought to a vote, to reorganize SS and medicare to address the fraud. It went no where, but dems claim all republicans want to end SS. Its ludicrous. I and millions of seniors paid for it for retirement. As to medicare 179.00 is with held from our checks every month to pay for it. No free lunch there.

DeSantis is the nation’s consummate culture warrior. Consider what he has wrought in Florida:

* Discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity are now barred in Florida schools.

* Math textbooks have been rejected for what Florida officials call “indoctrination.”

* Abortions are banned in Florida after 15 weeks. (DeSantis recently suspended an elected prosecutor who said he would refuse to enforce the anti-abortion law.)

* A new state office has been created to investigate “election crimes.”

* Florida teachers are limited in what they can teach about racism and other tragic aspects of American history. DeSantis has got personally involved in local school board races, endorsed and campaigning for 30 board candidates who agree with him (so far, 20 have won outright, five are going to runoffs).

* Claiming tenured professors in Florida’s public universities are “indoctrinating” students, DeSantis spearheaded a law requiring them to be reviewed every five years.

* Florida’s Medicaid regulator is considering a rule to block state-subsidized health care from paying for treatments of transgender people. Florida’s medical board recently began the process of banning gender-affirming medical treatment for youths.

* Disney (Florida’s largest employer) has been stripped of the ability to govern itself for the first time in more than half a century, in retaliation for the company’s opposition to the crackdown on L.G.B.T.Q. conversations with schoolchildren.

* Florida’s congressional map has been redrawn to give Republicans an even bigger advantage.

Don't take my word for it. Here’s a smattering of some of his pearls of (dare I say, fascist) rhetoric:

“We are not going to surrender to woke,” DeSantis said last Tuesday. “Florida is the state where woke goes to die.”

He has described an America under assault by left-wing elites, who “want to delegitimize our founding institutions.”

DeSantis envisions his job as governor as fighting critical race theory, “Faucian dystopia,” uncontrolled immigration, Big Tech, “left-wing oligarchs,” “Soros-funded prosecutors,” transgender athletes, and the “corporate media.”

The state of Florida, DeSantis says, has become a “citadel of freedom.” He charges — using a standard racist dog whistle — that “We’re not letting Florida cities burn down … In Florida, you’re not going to get a slap on the wrist. You are getting the inside of a jail cell.”

Is it useful to characterize DeSantis’s combination of homophobia, transphobia, racism, and misogyny, along with his efforts to control the public schools and universities and to intimidate the private sector (e.g., Disney), as redolent of fascism?

Authoritarianism implies the absence of democracy, a dictatorship. Fascism (the word comes from the Latin fasces, denoting a tightly-bound bundle of wooden rods that typically included a protruding axe blade, adopted by Benito Mussolini in the 1930s to symbolize his total power) is different from mere authoritarianism. Fascism also includes hatred of “them” (people considered different by race or religion, or outside the mainstream, or who were born abroad), control over what people learn and what books they are allowed to read, control over what had been independent government units (school boards, medical boards, universities, and so on), control over women and the most intimate and difficult decisions they’ll ever make, and demands that the private sector support the regime.


Karen Lowry White --How true! The most challenging aspect for Florida is 4 more years of Ron DeSantis. He has hinted that if Trump runs in 2024-he might just wait until 2028. He wants the sure thing-so he thinks! He is still being investigated for the mis-handling of funds with his migrant stunt. His trial begins with Andrew Warren on November 29th and Floridians will continue to pay his legal fees of over $700 an hour! DeSantis spends millions on legal bills at $725 an hour. Last week, the Orlando Sentinel reported that Gov. Ron DeSantis has racked up more than $5 million in legal bills, paying lawyers as much as $725 an hour — often to lose cases that everyone knew he was going to lose in the first place.
It took the Sentinel weeks to get copies of all the legal bills.
Yet before we could even publish that story, a federal judge handed DeSantis yet another big legal loss — this time telling the governor he wasn’t allowed to selectively outlaw political donations. (More on the specifics of that case in a moment.)
DeSantis’ P.R. team likes to claim he’s having all these legal problems because socialist lefties are raising bogus objections. Florida needs lawmakers-not law breakers! Before you vote, remember, there's a whole slate of candidates that doesn't respect your vote. They'll try to scare you away from the polls with armed masked "poll watchers". They'll declare they won even if they lose. They'll declare voter fraud, even if there isn't any. They'll try to get in by cheating the system with fake electors or not certifying the vote. They'll tie it up in the court system with dozens and dozens of meritless lawsuits. Hell, they'll even try violent insurrection, calling the Secretary of State of Georgia and asking him to fix the election?
sending the military to suppress a civilian protest? trying to force the attorney general to declare the election corrupt, despite the attorney general telling him it wasn't?

Like, that kind of evil?

Or are you more going for the pretend the pandemic isn't a threat when you have information telling you it's going to kill 10s of thousands because you think telling the truth might hurt your re-election chances?

Or maybe it's evil as in withholding promised and Congressionally allocated funds from an ally fighting against an invasion by a mutual foreign adversary (Putin!) until you get a promise to look for dirt on your opponent? That kind of evil?pretend it didn't happen.

They've done all of this before and they'll do it again, because they don't respect democracy and they don't respect your vote. And they sure don't respect you.
