1ºThe GOP always say that they will do an 'audit' or something like that when they do very badly in elections. And then, just in time, some idiot comes along who manages to win enough of the Electoral College to give them a president. They probably know full well that their ideas and policies only appeal to a minority of Americans, that they have never been the party with the most supporters nationwide, and if it were not for a very undemocratic voting system in the US, they would have had almost no presidents either. Only one of the past 8 Republican presidents won the popular vote, and since the US allows the minority to select the president, we have seen some truly horrible people occupy the Oval Office. Until or unless this system is changed, we can expect more of this for many years. It does not help that the Republican Party itself seems to have thrown all standards out the window in their desperate attempt to appeal to the lowest common denominator. I am old enough to remember when that was not the case. But then I read Andy Borowitz's book Profiles in Ignorance, and I understood that this is not exactly new either.

I think we should enact the 14th amendment and not allow Donald Trump to ever get near office again. He led the insurrection on January 6th and sat back and watched it happen. Other people have gone to jailf or their participation in the insurrection. Some have already been disallowed to ever run for office. So there is presidence for using the 14th ammendment.

Same day voting with voter ID and a paper ballot. And one of my favorites which is long over due, term limits.
