1ºSteve Fallen, no one has said anything about banning firearms completely. What democrats, along with most of the country wants is stronger background checks, where domestic abuses, people under the age of 21 can't get guns, banning high capacity magazines, and assault type weapons totally. Assault weapons can kill a group of people in seconds. The average person has no need for such firepower. The U.S. leads all industrialized countries in gun deaths. People in European countries, Japan, and others, have violent video games and mentally ill people, like the U.S. and they aren't running around shooting people, because they can't get most of guns people can easily get here. It’s obvious that the guns everywhere attitude has not worked and something needs to be done.
2ºAs someone with a degree in Criminal Justice, I believe he should have gotten a chance at release by parole or say a decade long sentence. Perhaps he might find a way to appeal it but I seriously believe he was as he claimed sort of a reckless driver who didn’t “plan to attack anyone” but drove through as a wild accident while the car couldn’t be stopped or swerved at that speed. I feel bad for Darrell because even with his disrespect for the judicial process, he gave a decent self-defense despite his sovereign citizen beliefs but sadly was found guilty on everything as if he plotted to kill people at the parade like a domestic terrorist which he is not in my opinion.
3ºSelf delusional, spoiled like a child by his family, narcissist who NEVER APOLOGIZED and constantly referred to "what happened" instead of stating, not once, "what I did." He fought to represent himself and when he lost, he and his family tried the insanity approach. Shameful and not an ounce of accepting responsibility. Many of us have had tough upbringings but we do NOT believe it a right to victimize others. Darrel's leaning on God and the Bible, just how many times do you think he did this before murdering 6 innocents, running over children and elderly. Od and the Bible were just props and I doubt anyone was fooled. His mother and grandmother, a doctor, has two decades to help guide him properly. His mother supplied the SUV he used, when he had jumped bail for the umpteenth time. If you have a friend or family member like Darrel, the time to help is BEFORE he/she murders 6 and violently injury 61 others! After this, it is society's RESPONSIBILITY to put a permanent stop to it. As to sympathy for his supporters - you look like enablers who never showed this man responsibility or accountability. These are why so many were devastated by this one man!
