1ºJudging from most of the comments here, most people do not seem to know how the judicial process works. I personally do not know either, but one thing I know is in the case against Trump, all the “I”s have to be dotted and all the “T”s have to be crossed. Yes, it is slow and long, but in all fairness, the roadblocks and attempted roadblocks from Trump’s defense team is a major factor in this process. They will throw every trick in the book to derail the process and use whatever law they deem necessary to slow and halt the proceedings. Buckle up people! It’s going to be a long ride!

7ºAt least cite Section 3 of the 14th Amendment::
“No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may, by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”
In plain language, this generally means that someone who “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” can’t hold certain public offices.

9ºMike Phillips I still doubt it very much that Trump will ever see jail time. Merrick Garland will probably do with Trump what the US Attorney did with Spiro Agnew. To avoid having Nixon resign and a corrupt crook like Agnew taking over, they had him plead to a minor offence of tax evasion with a minor penalty in exchange for him leaving politics permanently. That way they could save face. But mark my words, in order to not alienate the right anymore than they already are Trump will not see any prison time. But hey, look on the bright side. Twitter is failing and Trump will not be able to abuse it anymore.
