So now what do the rest of us do to get those workers the pays leave they deserve in 2023? This is bad for anyone who favors collective bargaining. All professions, beware.
Shame on you Congress!
Demand better, certainly call republican and democratic lawmakers to demand workers rights which certainly essential workers who could grind the economy to a halt deserve better. New legislation needs to be passed preventing the billionaire owners from using the government to stop a simple compromise, Pennie’s to their profits. I see you, president Biden. You may mean Wellesley but you need to find a way to fix this beyond this “fix.”
Inadequate. Simple solution was there and our elected leaders just got to choose people CANT EVER GET SICK? Really???

James Estep it's not important. Do you realize how dependent this country is on coal? It's used to generate electricity. It's very important! It's gonna take a hell of a lot more then Dementia Joe as well as many many years to end fossil fuels but for argument sake let's just say he does a year from now, it's still important today. Also for the record, fuel oil is a commodity. It comes from crude and that's on the commodity market. Another thing for the record is fuel oil is moved by rail. I've seen it. How do you think the depot's that load the trucks get the fuel? In many cases it's brought in by rail. I've seen that. I've also seen factory brought in fuel oil as well. Not just #2 oil but 4 and 6 oil as well. Let's not forget what else rail moves. How many chemicals for manufacturing. How about iron ore for making steel. How about scrap steel to be recycled into steel. All used to make items people need every day. Parts for their cars so they can get to work. Furnaces for their homes. This is all stuff I've seen moved on rail with my own eyes.

Romans, chapter 10, verse 14;

[13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
[14] HOW THEN SHALL THEY CALL ON HIM IN WHOM THEY HAVE NOT BELIEVED? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
[15] And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
[16] BUT THEY HAVE NOT ALL OBEYED THE GOSPEL. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

Let me elaborate further [in addition to the block lettering,] by giving you this example:

There is a certain lady, whose brother used to be a business partner years ago, before I was converted. And then it came to pass afterward sometime in 2019, that their eldest brother passed away, and so naturally I went to attend the funeral service, which happened at their mother's house, after which the dead body was transported to another place to a village far away from the city wherein I live. And, as a result, I did not attend the memorial service or burial ceremony. And besides, my friend who used to be a business partner was not there present at the funeral because he failed to come all the way from where he was, and still is, which is in South Africa. But I noticed that this lady in question noted my presence at the funeral, and observed my continued presence, as the funeral cortege departed to the place where the memorial service was held. I am explaining all this in detail, so that you may figure out the thought process that will be relevant after you finish reading what I am saying, you know.

And then after all this whenever I needed a little money, that is to say, below 5k, or below the equivalent of 5 dollars in US currency, I used to call the lady in question, and asked for such a sum, and then it so happened that every time I did so, she gave as much as I had asked of her. And so as time went on I became convinced that this person or lady would follow my footsteps, and then perhaps someday be granted "repentance not to be repented of" from God, you know? And then on a certain day this year, namely, Friday, March 11, 2022, I needed a little more money to the tune of 10k, and when I thought about whom to ask it from, I remembered the lady in question, and told her what I wanted. But then since this time around I was asking more than her limit or what I normally received from her, I decided to tell her that the money would not be an alms, but that I would repay it at the end of the same month of March. And then she told me to let her see if she has it, which euphemistically meant to let her think about it. And so I waited, and then she sent the money, 10.5k, in the afternoon at 2.37 pm. And then I thanked her for that, and then reiterated to repay it at the end of the month, as I had said before. And then when month-end came, things did not turn out the way I expected, and so I failed to make payment, as I had promised. And then after that a longer time had passed, I said to myself, "the hell with it," since even if I did repay it, she wouldn't trust me again to honour any such request faithfully, seeing I had not done as I had promised her I would do within the set time, you see.

And then it came to pass sometime last month on Monday, November 28, 2022, that I needed such a little money as I had been asking of the lady in question from time to time, and then I remembered her again, and called her number at 12.09 pm, and told her that I needed an alms, such as I had previously been requesting from her before, you know. And when she heard what I had said, she was about to say something like "ok, she would send it," but then she changed her mind, and then reminded me that I had not yet repaid what I still owed to her, and waited for my explanation, to see what I would say, you know? And then I started to give my explanation, and told her that I had wanted to give the money back, as I had promised, but then things didn't work out as I had anticipated, and so I did not. And then I went on and then began to teach the gospel, and said when I ask anything from anybody, I do so because I have believed that anything that is under the whole heaven belongs to God, and so I ask things from people on such a basis. And because it so happened that things did not turn out as I had anticipated, therefore I supposed it had been God who had disrupted me, and then consequently prevented me from doing what I had promised her I would do. And so I figured maybe if I would let time enough pass by before I would call her again, then perhaps she would understand why I am doing this at this time. But then she insisted instead on the principle of repaying what you owe to the person from whom you borrowed, and then I told her that when we believe that all things belong to God, we believe that it is he, that is, God, who is able to judge whether I have repaid what I owed to her or not. And then she countered or responded by saying that she also reads the Bible, and that that is not what she knows or has learned. And then I asked whether she would still require me to repay what I owed to her, and she said no. And then when I persisted, and went on to explain the bigger picture, she said she would see what she would do.

And then I called her again the next day, being Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 9.46 am, to see if she had perhaps changed her mind or if she would decide to submit herself to God and his doctrine, but up to that time she had not done so. So who knows what shall happen? But my point is that I figure she was giving what she used to give before especially because she had seen me at her eldest brother's funeral, but not because she was a God-seeker is all I am saying. Because she was offended when she heard my explanation. And so it is written in the book Matthew, chapter 11, verse 6;

[6] And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
