1ºI think it's hilarious how many people get worked up over something that 1) has nothing to do with them and 2) was an accident according to everyone involved. Also, not all cats are the same. My cat has climbed into my suitcase and hid under the stuff in there more times than I can count. I could easily zip him up in there if I wasn't paying attention. In this case, the cat wasn't even zipped in there by the owner but someone else. Plenty of cats are not easily freaked out and if they are warm and hidden, they may very well lie there without any complaint. Y'all just want something to be mad about all the time
2ºAmanda Anderson right, That is nasty to me and we don’t do that in our house and the folks that want to do that in their house and can’t control their cats that’s their business. We will not eat food from that persons house, ever! I don’t care if we go pick up food and bring it back to the house. I’m not eating because I know the cats have been walking on the counters and the tables. I babysat for a couple when I was 13 years old and it turned my stomach because I had never seen such craziness. I was scared to move around in the house because they would be in the kitchen in the sink licking dirty dishes that they left, on the couch, on the back and everything. I had to go home with that smell/hair stuck to my clothes. Nope, we don’t do cats!
3ºNo it's not. My cat did the same thing with a moving box when I was in the process of moving to my current apartment. She was insane about climbing into open boxes and suitcases (she did the same thing as I was packing up to go off to college) at the time - thank goodness she's stopped that as she got older!. I had another cat as a kid who loved sticking her head in grocery bags, much to the dismay of us kids who had the job of catching her when she got the bag stuck on her head and ran through the house in a panic (she was never the brightest bulb in the bunch).
4ºThis was an accident. It happened on the airline I work for and I was there. Condensed version - the guy was from Belgium visiting friends in NY. He spent the night at one of the friend's house. The cat was very friendly, followed him around, slept in bed with him, and wound up jumping in his suitcase without him knowing.
People with cats know they do this. I'm the unofficial animal advocate and cat lady at work, so of course someone called me and told me what was going on. I told them to bring the bag in the office, close the door and put the cat in the carrier we had that someone no longer wanted. I got there asap to assist.
Everyone was mad at him insisting he did it on purpose. Why on earth would he?! He was then going to visit friends in Florida. "Hey look, I brought you a present - Joe's cat!" Yeah, I don't think so.
Again, people who have cats know they do this. You turn your back for a second, the cat jumps in, you flip it closed and viola! Cat zipped up in bag. Cat people know you check before zipping. A non cat owner doesn't. A friend of mine's ex husband got to a job opened his equipment bag and one of their cats pops out. So even experienced cat owner have had this happen.
I felt so bad for the guy, he was really upset by the whole thing. He had no clue. The cat was totally quiet the whole time, even after getting him in the carrier. When his friend came to pick the cat up, he was totally apologetic and said he should have warned him the cat might do this. The cat was fine, although I do worry about the long term effects of the radiation he received.
