1ºThey’re worked up about TikTok, but there’s no concern about phones made by Chinese companies that could just as easily have tracking software covertly installed that would capture much more data than a social media app. I’m not even referring to phones with Chinese made components, but phones completely made by Chinese owned companies. Why? The phones generate dollars from tariffs and sales taxes, but social media apps generate zero money for the government. Also, much more personal data is captured by countries including China, but also many others, via covert hacking every year. TikTok is just another thing in a long line of things over many years that’s new and popular with young people that people think are destructive and should be suppressed. It was TV and rated R movies and violent video games and the internet and so on and so on.
