Shelley Sutton Sullivan lmao. Right here, the reason women are dying in Texas! So, comfortable in your own life that when facts are presented to you laying out our country's racist practices you take no responsibility and claim that minorities have victim mentality. What responsibility should I have other than making sure my childrens school district is well funded and does not put into place practices that hurt minority students? What scene do I rewind? The one growing up in a liberal state with well funded schools? The one where I went to college so I could commit to self growth? Having an amazing career, kids, and home but still being aware of the problems in our society and taking personal responsibility to make changes so that our country could be better?
My vision is that hateful uneducated white women such as yourself have the day that you deserve.

1. The military can be an effective escape from poverty, especially in economically depressed areas. I used it. Many others have used it. I'm a better person for it. While some consider that to be predatory towards the poor, I found it to be a welcome opportunity and a gateway to an otherwise unobtainable college education.

2. JROTC should never be mandatory. The military simply isn't for everyone. There are folks out there that experience mental harm from these types of programs. They can be against people's religious and ethical beliefs. These folks are actually a detriment to the military when they enlist, are a burden the entire time they are enlisted, and are very difficult to chapter out. Forcing high school kids who already know the military isn't for them into a program like this is harmful both to the involuntary participant and the kids that want to be there who must be in the program with the malcontent. It wastes time and resources. Let those kids go do a fitness class at the Y instead. They can take an educational class during that period instead, and will be better for it.

Joe Hanson-Gates maybe you should be asking yourself why you are so ignorant as to the military practices ingrained in our society for the last hundred years. Serving the military straight out of high school is a poor man's game and always has been since before world war I. That is why when you attend elite military academies you have to get vetted and have personal recommendations by our elected officials. The people most likely to have access to these individuals would be those from the wealthy upper class. So that when they start their service they have a rank of officer already unlike their minority counterparts who have had to work their way up.
You also need to ask yourself why these schools continue to force this program on students while the military itself is telling them it is a voluntary program and to please stop mandatory enrollment. Why do you think you can only learn integrity and other valuable traits through the military? Plenty of people in the United States have become extraordinarily successful while choosing not to serve in the military. Nobody is claiming to be the victim.but the fact you are so blinded by your bias that you don't see where the article clearly points out racist practices in the United States is sad.

Parents have to sign an injury waiver if their high school daughter is injured in the mandatory JROTC. The HS students aren’t allowed to get a HS degree if they don’t take the mandatory class which they never signed up for:
“He says he saw a red flag in 2019, when his daughter brought home a waiver, saying if she were hurt in the JROTC class she never signed up for, the Army and Fort Myers High School were not liable.”
“I shouldn’t have to sign an injury waiver for school, for my kid to graduate from high school. That’s insane.”
Mejia says he fought her enrollment into the program, but the school administration insisted the class was required for graduation.”

Shelley Sutton Sullivan what's disgusting is a fellow white American female so wrapped in her privilege that she disregarded the basic intent of this article. So you are okay with forcing minority students into a voluntary program while being aware of the fact that white students are not burdened with the same responsibility? What is disgusting is the way that you were raised to be so blinded by hate that you refuse to see the systematic racism in our country even when it is laid out clearly in this article for you. Your parents clearly did not do a good job raising you to be a decent and moral American citizen and I feel sorry for you.

Robert John I never said that. Lmao
Maybe brush up on your reading comprehension skills before commenting. What I said is why do you think it is alright to force minority students to participate in what is supposed to be a voluntary program while their white counterparts get a pass simply because of the color of their skin? Did you also miss the part in the article where the military personnel explains that more recruiting centers are set up in minority communities because they are aware that these students aren't given a quality education? Hmmm
Seems like you are perfectly happy exploiting young minority children as long as it suits your narrative. Do you know how much integrity and self discipline minority students show everyday having to go to school while being called racial slurs and having your fellow white students hold slave actions on social media? While white males continue to shoot up schools and everyone is saying it's a mental health crisis. What crisis is befallen the most privileged demographic of America? Lmao

Let’s get this clear, just because someone is in the JROTC doesn’t mean they must join the military. Only uneducated individuals think that. Second, schools is crime ridden areas are trying to address social issues by providing courses that attempts to teach students in crime ridden areas, so it provide them an opportunity to better their social status. Since many young individuals in crime ridden areas don’t receive proper societal support to develop positive discipline in societal interactions. The report shows that the students not wanting to attend JROTC is disproportionate due to those students feeling they are entitled to be given societal benefits without sacrificing any of their privileges. Of course in a school that is disproportionately blacks, there would be a disproportionate number of black students in the school’s JROTC program at that school. I mean imagine what you would think if “white” parents complained about the disproportionate number of “white” students enrolled in some programs, where the school population is predominantly “white.”

Nick Martinez and also I think it’s good for the kids to serve anyway. Our country gives away so much support we have a problem with illegal immigration, because of handouts. I see no issues that kids would need to learn about the military, and from what I read it’s the parents who are upset. That’s okay. If the kid wants to sign up when their 18, then let them. It’s a lot of good opportunities and lots of kids in poor neighborhoods come from families where the parents made bad decisions. I grew up for many years in a rough part of Dallas Texas myself. Like I said, I’m about to retire from the military.
Aside from how irritating listening to the snowflakes is, I still would like to see opportunities for their kids so they can change the generational behaviors and feel like they have a opportunity to pull themselves up by their bootstrap.

Marc Burr Sr nope. It was either gym class or JROTC. I didn't have a choice there. JROTC is nothing to get upset about. You do your 4 years and be done. Guess we gonna start going after schools for forcing Math and English classes now? Or how about Science or Social Studies? Oh I know, foreign language? These parents are blowing this way out of proportion. And comparing this class to actually joining the military is ridiculous. JROTC is nothing more than an hour to hour and a half of learning how to march, learning the current chain of command, wearing a uniform and learning military history. Nothing dangerous about it. You stand a higher chance of injury in gym class.

10ºIt's almost as if it's in the interests of the elites to throw us off the trail by claiming things like climate change and white supremacy as being the biggest threats to America when in fact they are... There is no such thing as White Privilege. However, there is entitlement privilege and elite privilege.
Less than 30,000 families control 5 times as much wealth as 110,000,000 million families in America or each elite family controls 18,000 times as much as an Average American Family of ever color, creed, religion.
The problem isn't black, white, brown, and other shades of Americans. It's entitlement and elite privilege.
