Henrietta Lacks statue will replace Robert E. Lee monument in Roanoke, Virginia

A statue of Henrietta Lacks, whose cells were used without her consent in crucial medical research, will replace a monument to Confederate general Robert E. Lee in Roanoke, Virginia. Lacks died from cancer at age 31.

Sean Turner I didn't object taking down Lee. Not even part of the discussion.

Read my post again and give yourself time to ponder.

I also didn't object to that medical proceedures of a certain kind are unethical without consent. However, to regulate that, we need a majority descision and laws, since some proceedures are in a grey zone. Life is not black and white and keep emotions in check.

We also need to calculate that today, much more can be done with a cell lineage that definitely can be considered unethical, compared to the past. In either case, Lack was never used as a guinea pig and we can keep the racial part out of the discussion completely.

Brent Ashley Texas vs White had nothing to do with a right of a State to succeed. It was to set into law the right of a State to sue another State or it’s citizens for damages.
Quote: The Constitution ordains that the judicial power of the United States shall extend to certain cases, and among them 'to controversies between a State and citizens of another State; . . . and between a State, or the citizens thereof, and foreign States, citizens or subjects.' It ordains further, that in cases in which 'a State' shall be a party, the Supreme Court shall have original jurisdiction.
In Texas vs White the Texas Indemnity Bonds were the issue.
You are entitled to your opinion. However I have traversed this road all the further I wish to go.

Michael J. Lindemann negative. As stated:

"Primary Holding
States do not have the right to unilaterally secede from the United States, so the Confederate states during the Civil War always remained part of the nation."

Up until that point, there was no law against secession.

Nothing I have stated is opinion.

Lincoln and his federal authotity as a response to Horace Greely:
"The sooner the national authority can be restored the nearer the Union will be “the Union as it was"

Davis in his first address:
"“We feel that our cause is just and holy; we protest solemnly in the face of mankind that we desire peace at any sacrifice, save that of honor and independence; we seek no conquest, no aggrandizement, no concession of any kind from the States with which we were lately confederated; all we ask is to be let alone; that those who never held power over us shall not now attempt our subjugation by arms."

Lincoln executive order to imprison and takeover media

" you are therefore hereby commanded forthwith to arrest and imprison in any fort or military prison in your command the editors, proprietors, and publishers of the aforesaid newspapers, and all such persons as, after public notice has been given of the falsehood of said publication, print and publish the same with intent to give aid and comfort to the enemy; and you will hold the persons so arrested in close custody until they can be brought to trial before a military commission for their offense. You will also take possession by military force of the printing establishments of the New York World and Journal of Commerce, and hold the same until further orders, and prohibit any further publication therefrom."

Parents teach your children all of history do not try and erase it. It will prove to be useful. Do not just start at Robert E Lee go back and explain how every atrocity began as far as recorded not just the way the new victim mentality agenda riddled society would like your kids to. Start at the beginning prior to any documentation on US soil when nations/societies took over others and brutalized each other and allow them to learn. Do not attempt to rewrite or put blame on inanimate objects nor teach them that being the victim is noble. Teach them to be decent and learn from others mistakes. To be stronger than those who now miserably worship themselves as opposed to being intellectual enough to realize the mistakes of others. Teach them that a piece of concrete is just that. Teach them correctly to avoid victim hood, assumption driven behavior, and simply idiots who “think” they deserve some form of retribution while basking in their lack of self worth and reaping the rewards of symbolism not self accomplishment. Teach them to make their own way while respecting all attempting to do the same and not those fighting for discourse. Teach them to be valuable human beings to themselves not defined by society’s moronic views and beliefs.
