The truth about how often you should wash your hair | CNN

How often should you wash your hair? It depends on multiple factors, including hair type and style, how oily your scalp tends to get, and your activity levels.

I wash my long hair every other day before. Right now, getting it washed twice a week is a good thing, but mostly once a week… I shower everyday. I am afraid to take a bath on my own (at least i knew someone is just next to the bathroom) Im getting panic attack most of the time whenever the water pours down my face. I feel like drowning, suffocated and I just can’t breathe. I bathe as fast as I can. I’ll be luckily to use continioner once a month when am feeling good to stay longer washing my hair.

What's up with all of this random crap that CNN is putting out? It's like a version of ET Tonight with tidbits of this and that....what about news? Current events? How about covering the hell that farmers are going thru in the Midwest right now with this weather? Don't hear THAT on the news! How are the people that got destroyed by the hurricane down south doing?? Anything being done for them? How about keeping a light shining on them?! How are Native American communities faring? How about what's being done with our homeless population during this horrible cold snap? Is Elon Musk donating anything to help them out? Hmmm, I doubt it. So much to report on, but here we are discussing how often to wash our hair....That's the stuff that belongs in Cosmo magazine...not CNN....but that's just my opinion...

Dry shampoo was a game changer! I have had extremely long hair for most of my life. When I was in my early/mid-20’s, I found way more resources than the “OMG lather, rinse, repeat multiple times every week - here’s more products to use for the frizz afterwards” method.

My hair got BETTER, and longer and nicer than it ever had been (thick, hip length red hair with natural wave). If I haven’t been out sweating, playing in the ocean or otherwise funking myself up, shampoo once a week is more than enough.

Conditioner can be used more frequently, but so many times, people who complain of greasy scalps are the ones over washing, which strips your body, causing it to overproduce more oil to compensate.

I cut my hair to lower back/waist a few years back, but have kept the same routine. My hair is regularly used by my stylist for marketing and contests these days… so glad I quit over washing and learned what my specific hair needed to feel its best.

A lot of people (especially Americans) seem to really obsess about overwashing.
