I thought they would need some forensic science degree to be able to look at every tiny factor on a body and decide whether or not an autopsy needs to happen. Case in point: what they mentioned here: George Floyd. Was it the fentanyl in his system, his heart problems, or the cop crushing his trachea? Or any combination of those? We still don’t “really” know which one it was….and people will continue to debate forever. THAT is why they need to have some sort of science background, or analytical experience, or I’ll even consider someone in the funeral service industry….but they need to quit deciding on coroner just because of winning an election ….

Wren Morgan from the article, and perform by an actual doctor. So in some cases, it really doesn't make a difference. Seems he wanted it to be the cause and didn't consider other factors.
"In a recent California case, the
Sacramento County coroner's office
ruled that Lori McClintock, the wife of
congressman Tom McClintock, died
from dehydration and gastroenteritis
in December 2021 after ingesting
white mulberry leaf, a plant not
considered toxic to humans. The
ruling triggered questions by
scientists, doctors, and pathologists
about the decision to link the plant to
her cause of death. When asked to
explain how he made the connection
Dr. Jason Tovar, the chief forensic
pathologist who reports to the
coroner, said he reviewed literature
about the plant online using WebMD
and Verywell Health."
